With it's few faults, I love it still.
Comments about Yamaha YSL-445G Intermediate Trombone Outfit:
I bought a Yamaha YSL-448G recently, because I needed a real trombone for the semester ahead. I played this trombone and was not disappointed. It has good tone and great intonation. It also comes with a sturdy case with lots of storage room. The valve works well, and I've only had to oil it twice in the month I've had the trombone. The trombone sings in the high register. Now for the bad news. The mouthpiece that comes with it is geared towards a school band player. Low range is nada with it. A new mouthpiece, like a 5G, should cure the tone problem with the stock mouthpiece. Also, this trombone gets pronouncedly more sharp from the fifth (D) to the sixth (F) partial. Otherwise, I'm enjoying this horn in a pit band and a jazz band. I'd recommend it with very few reservations.

Not great but quite ok
Comments about Yamaha YSL-445G Intermediate Trombone Outfit:
I got a ysl-446G a couple of years ago and it's served me well sofar. The slide is great and it's easy to play (not had much experience with other trombones). It is a tad front heavy though and the valve sticks sometimes, especially when it's cold (the spring went after only a couple of months so it's possible the repair has something to do with this). The sound is alright though not great (I'm a bit envious of the sound the guy next to me gets on his Conn 88h, and I hope find one of those second hand soon). The Yamaha has been with me everywhere yet it's only got a couple of tiny dents sofar.

great deal!
Comments about Yamaha YSL-445G Intermediate Trombone Outfit:
I bought this trombone just yesterday. I purchased the 446. To me it plays like a pro horn but with an intermediate horn price. I think it plays very similar to a Bach Strad 36. The only down point is that until you find the right slide cream/oil the slide can feel a little less free in places. This horn is a great bargain!

Comments about Yamaha YSL-445G Intermediate Trombone Outfit:
I love this horn (YSL448G). It is a great bargain. It plays nicely and it has a good sound. The only drawback is that it is hard to get pedal notes like EEb.
