Created by Yamaha's wind instrument design team, the pickup mute is made of lightweight plastic with a unique rubber sealer to hold it securely in the bell. When used with the Silent Brass System, it has none of the stuffy restricted feeling of a conventional practice mute. In fact, it blows so close to a natural open horn that you simply won't believe it until you actually experience it for yourself. Play high or low, loud or soft, and your pitch will remain true and centered. A special microphone inside the mute relays your sound to the Personal Studio.

This mute will enable the trumpet player to practice anytime day or night. There is some back pressure and it will make the trumpet slightly front heavy. The tone quality and intonation are acceptable given the high level of muting. This is the practice mute to consider for a trumpet player that wants to practice at 1 AM in the morning. This mute gets 5 stars because it is a very effective sound muffler.

I played this mute along with several others at the store and liked it the best out of all that I tried. There is very little air resistance and the tone is great all around. It's a little louder than the others that I played, but it's still quiet enough to play anywhere. It's a little on the expensive side, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone who needs to practice quietly.
