Best Mouthpiece Out There
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
This is a great mouthpiece! I used to play on a Bach 7C, and I switched to the Yamaha 7A4 about halfway through my sophomore year. At first it was an awkward transition, but now I can't play without it. It has a bright, focused tone, and my range has gone up 3 notes in the upper stratosphere register. Plus, the gold plating is incredibly smooth and easy on the chops. All in all, this is a stupendous mouthpiece that will give you not only a big band PHAT sound but also a smooth sultry sound that will melt the hearts of your audience. Two thumbs up.

Pretty Freakin Awesome
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
It's hard to find a mouthpiece that allows you to keep the ease of the upper register and yet produce a huge bold, dark sound. I was plaing on a 3C, but my tone was awful bright. I switched to the 16C4-GP that came with my Yamaha Xeno, and now my tone is really dark and bold, perfect for concert band, even jazz. My range was not affected at all, in fact my upper register became even fatter and bolder, which is always a great thing. The gold rim feels really soft and comfortable. I only wish that the diameter were a little greater.

Maybe its a fluke
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
I personally love this mouthpiece. I play on a Yamaha Xeno 8345 and love the combination. This mouthpiece turns the Xeno more of a marching horn into a nice concert horn. The added mass helped greatly. I would have liked to try a Megatone but because of time I had to rush to order the MP for a competition. The only thing I have against this mouthpiece is after I play it there is a crusty layer on the gold plating. I don't know if thats the case with all gold mouthpieces or just this one. The mouthpiece is great enough to overcome that flaw by miles. I play on a 16c4 and would buy it a million times over. Thanks WWBW

Best mouthpiece I've ever used.
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
I have played trumpet since the 6th grade. I played all throughout high school and college, and was even a trumpet major (for a semester). I'm 28 years old now, and play in our community band, and in my church band. Throughout the years I've played on a number of different mouthpieces including a Bach 7C, Blessing 3C, Schilke 1C, and a Radkie (don't remember the size, it was borrowed). Two years ago My wife bought me a new Xeno for Christmas, which came with this mouthpiece in a 16C4 GP. This is the best mouthpiece I've ever used! I can play longer on it, and I enjoy playing more than ever. It makes the upper register so much easier, without sacrificing the integrity of the tone, or of the lower register. It is also a lot easier to maintain embouchure with this mouthpiece. I would also have to say that it definitely sounds best with the Xeno, but I've also used it on a Conn Vintage, a Bach Stradivarius, and my old student Conn, and had much better results than with any other mouthpiece. It makes my student Conn sound like a professional horn. I would recommend this mouthpiece to anyone wanting to improve their range, tone quality, and stamina.

Great Mouthpiece
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
Great Mouthpiece, plays great, looks great, generally a nice dark, characteristic, rich sound. Nice High register, too, and the Gold as wheel as other designs increase the ability to switch between notes. Not perfect, but great.

Great Mouthpiece
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
I use this mouthpiece (Size 14a4a) for Jazz Band. I am lead trumpet, and to be lead you have to hit notes in the "stratosphere" to be good. Well, Im only a freshman, and I cant play as high as most people with just a 3c, So I got a 14a4a Yamaha mouthpiece. Regularly with a3c I could hit a C above Staff, now I can easily hit that and notes higher that just a C. I got this mouthpiece because my trumpet has gold accents on it, so the gold rimmed mouthpiece makes the gold stand out, but it has proven to be the best mouthpiece ive ever played on.

Out-Freakin-Standing Choice
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
I am currently 20 years old and a very dedicated trumpet major. I have played on a Monette B4S since I was 16. My best friend just bought a new Xeno with a "Shot Blast" silver finish. It came with a 16C4 GP. I took it from him and played on it in our 2 hour block of Band. With this mouthpiece I was able to blow and blow and blow some more....The volume of air that can be pushed through it is phenomenal. I was forced to push my tuning slide in about an 8th of an inch because it brought the pitch down. The Gold Cushioned rim fits nicely on the lips. Very soft. Needless to say since I have "stolen": this mouthpiece. I definitely recommend this piece of equipment to any middle to upper level player looking to bring down the center of pitch or project their sound a few hundred extra yards. It will leave you with a full, rich, dark sound, but at the same time you can easily scream up to a Double C and it will truly "sizzle".

Cheers to Yamaha!
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
I have the 16C4-GP and a custom ordered 16A4-GP (same as the 16C4-GP but with a shallow cup). The Yamaha GP Series have a much darker warmer and far more lyrical characteristic.I highly recommend these mouthpieces for the artist seeking a well centered focused, concentrated, warm tonal core for jazz and especially concert work. These mouthpieces are absolutely perfect; Cheers Yamaha!!

Good Balance of Weight and Conviviality
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
This is my Mouthpiece! I used to play a regular Yamaha but wanted something heavier. This is the perfect balance between a heavy throated mouthpiece and conventional one.

dark warm tone
Comments about Yamaha Heavyweight Series Trumpet Mouthpiece with Gold-Plated Rim and Cup:
I just recently bought a zeno, which came with a 16C4-GP, and I was surprised at the warm, dark tone it produced. It sounds great in the upper and lower registers, and I love it.
