Comments about Humes & Berg 153 Trombone Cleartone Mute:
The Clear Tone mute is also known as the Solo Tone mute, and it is just that. This is a mute intended for jazz and pop solo work. Its sound quality is a bit dated (Tommy Dorsey used this kind of mute a lot), but has a great, unique sound. Not as nasal as a straight, nor as mellow as a cup. There's been one in my mute arsenal for many years. If it was good enough for TD it's good enough for me.
