Very convenient maintenance aid

By Robert Wendell

from Charlotte, North Carolina

Comments about Herco Trumpet Spitballs:

I have all the usual cleaning tools for my King Silver Flair trumpet, but these Spitballs are a terrific convenience for maintaining my horn clean with far less frequent need to get the gummy, gooey buildup out. They're super easy to use and go right through. I use one with the valves open and one with all three down. This works really well. I never thought I would be so fond of spitballs...LOL! Now I just clean with the other tools every once in a long while, mostly as a matter of principle. It's hardly necessary anymore.

spit balls

By Alex-J0GCT

from Fresno California

Comments about Herco Trumpet Spitballs:

Spit balls work great, even after a home cleaning with a snake, after the spit balls are ran through you can still see the grime come out. Thanks Again.

Same bottle since around 1968

By Gary

from Hillsboro, OR

Comments about Herco Trumpet Spitballs:

These little yellow foam plugs are fantastic. I bought a bottle of them back in high school, 1968. They are still in my case and are used often. Just wash them out about once every five years or so and use them over and over. Just a couple drops of your favorite valve oil om them is all it takes. Students love them! The first time you blow one through a student's horn it will come out slimy green and probably stick to the wall. They learn real fast that a trumpet needs to be cleaned often. Great to see that these Spitballs are still on the market. Try them, they are fantastic!

When I ran it throghh my Yamaha cornet, it cleaned it alright, but it ended up making my horn sound weird. I would not reccomend this product.

This is Okay

By Tom C.

from Atlanta, GA USA

Comments about Herco Trumpet Spitballs:

I must admit I was a bit skeptical when I added this item to my last order, but I was pleasantly surprised at their effectiveness. I do not think they would ever replace using a snake, but are great for a periodic quick cleaning.I have a 30 year old trumpet that has not been maintained all that well over the years, but I found this product a fast way to do a cleaning before a performance. I have been sending the same ball through two or three times before discarding it.

Use often to keep your leadpipe clean!

Comments about Herco Trumpet Spitballs:

If you play a brass instrument, the Herco Spitballs are a must! At least once a week blow one through your horn. It will help prevent red rot from the inside out. Just as importantly, it will keep your leadpipe clean. A dirty leadpipe is vulnerable to red rot and greatly disrupts the air flow. Blow a spitball through the horn 5 or 6 times. Then add a few drops of valve or slide oil to it and blow it through one last time. This will keep the leadpipe and horn fresh between cleanings. The oil will help retard rot from the Cherry Coke you drank while playing! If you are in a marching band, you might do it twice a week!

Very Good

By Martin

from Michigan

Comments about Herco Trumpet Spitballs:

These are very useful, and well worth the money. The instructions say to discard the spitball after each use, but I found it better if you re use them, that way you don't have to keep buying more. After putting one through my horn about 10 times, it was greenish in color. Just to show you how well they work.

A great solution to an old problem

By Jeff-E4M_9

from Michigan

Comments about Herco Trumpet Spitballs:

I've found that using one after every gig has made me far less susceptible to sore throats and colds, and does help maintain the horn.
