A longtime favorite of leading trumpet professionals.

Because of its 2 windings and conical bore, this instrument has more resistance and flexibility. Best suited for coloratura work, slurring, triple tonguing, and other technical performances. The tone is smooth and not as heroic or martial as that of the Bb trumpet. Available in 3 bore sizes (M, ML, L), this is the medium-large bore model, a versatile, easy playing instrument.

  • Key: Bb
  • Bore: .459-inch
  • Leadpipe: Standard
  • Leadpipe Material: Yellow Brass
  • Bell: 4-13/16-inch One-Piece Hand Hammered
  • Bell Material: Yellow Brass

A Great Cornet

By Jim Bob

from Undisclosed

Comments about Bach 181ML Stradivarius Series Bb Cornet:

I have three professional model cornets. The Bach 181ML is perfect for most of the venues I play in, which include jazz band, concert band, and Dixieland band. After playing trumpet/cornet for over 60 years, I know the sound that I'm looking for, and this cornet delivered the goods. It played very well right out of the box. A little valve oil and a bit of slide grease, and I was ready for a performance that very night. I wasn't disappointed. I use a Bach 1D mouthpiece for almost everything, and the combination of that mouthpiece and the 181ML cornet gives me all round great results. The quality appears to be flawless. If you want a professional model cornet, this one could be your solution.

Outstanding Cornet!

Comments about Bach 181ML Stradivarius Series Bb Cornet:

I've been using this silver 181 Cornet for a week now in my brass ensemble and I absolutely love it.My vintage Bach Strad trumpet with a 43 bell is very bright and it screams. It has great tone but in small venues it feels like you're going to peal the paint off the walls with it. I needed something with a little less edge for those melody lines in the ensemble. This cornet does this with ease. The tone is very rich and full. It has just the right amount of brightness and resistance for my Schilke 10A4A mouthpiece. This cornet is great for adding a rich tone to your playing and it requires less wind than a trumpet so you can play slightly softer (great for an ensemble or small venues). It's hard to beat the quality of a Bach Stradivarius. My compliments to WWBW for the prompt shipping. THANK YOU for your efforts.

after 40 years

Comments about Bach 181ML Stradivarius Series Bb Cornet:

I searched and finally found a Bach Strad silver cornet and its a lovely horn. My only issue is that it seems to be really wet - I'm always draining spit from it. Is it me, or have others found the same the same issue.

The Best There Is

By Dr. Dean

from Dallas

Comments about Bach 181ML Stradivarius Series Bb Cornet:

I played a Bach Stradivarius lacquer version from junior high to college. The sound is PERFECT. When I bought my horn, my band director said I must have been practicing all summer and immediately sat me 1st chair, up from 5th the year before. I hadn't practiced at all since I bought it - the sound is so great it makes a player sound markedly better than other horns. The silver parts add visual flash to the best cornet ever made.
