Useful if you have to walk
Comments about Altieri AL04 Standard French Horn Bag:
I have had my screw bell French Horn bag since 1998 and it shows little wear. This may be one of the most compact bags for just carrying the Horn. I say that because there is little room for much else. A place for one mouthpiece, and a side pocket sized for music. For me that's OK, as what I need is a light way to carry the Horn. One caution: the bag does not provide much protection if left sitting around on a floor. It looks like a gym bag and is so light that non-musicians don't realize it contains an instrument.

nice bag - high priced
Comments about Altieri AL04 Standard French Horn Bag:
I bought mine about 3 years ago, and it has held up very well. Shows no signs of wear and has maintained its new appearance. I use it almost exclusively instead of the hardcase my horn came with. It has two pad inserts that you can place where you like to give the most protection to you horn and has a small inside pocket that can hold a couple of mouthpieces. There is a drawstring that lets you secure the bell of the horn in its own compartment over the main body. The exterior has one large compartment for music and holds the backstraps inside. It comes also with a shoulder strap, which I prefer mostly to use. The downside of the design is that if you use the shoulder straps, you cannot close the large compartment because the straps begin inside the compartment. So, while it may not necessarily be a big issue for most, the idea that you have an unsecured compartment that you cannot zip closed might cause problems along the way. The bag also lacks useable compartments to carry things that are typical of most players. The inside compartment is way to small to carry anything except fairly small items such as your mouthpiece. The main issue is the price. While the bag shows good quality workmanship, I'm confused as to why the price is fairly high, but with very few features. I realize that in comparison to a marcus bonna or something of the like, that it is very reasonably priced. But the material is nothing to write home about. In my view, it's just a slight step up from cordura and thats about it. I would consider other bags first before considering this design and price tag.
