This fantastic 2-hour-long digital video disc shows guitarists how to play the important parts to every song on this influential album. The DVD is hosted and taught by the late Velvert Turner, a student and friend of Jimi's, with demonstrations by ace Hendrix educator Andy Aledort. For each song, the guitar parts are first played slowly, then up to speed to help players learn each riff and solo properly, and there are backing tracks to play along with. As a bonus, this DVD includes actual footage of Jimi playing many of the songs explored and covered. Learn "Purple Haze," "Manic Depression," "Hey Joe," "Love or Confusion," "May This Be Love," "I Don't Live Today," "The Wind Cries Mary," "Fire," "Third Stone from the Sun," "Foxey Lady," "Are You Experienced?" "Stone Free," "51st Anniversary," "Highway Chile," "Can You See Me," "Remember," and "Red House." With the navigational freedom that a DVD provides, you'll easily be able to go right to the lessons of your choice!

Comments about Hal Leonard Jimi Hendrix - Learn to Play the Songs from Are You Experienced DVD:
Learning Jimi Hendrix's unique style is not easy and I'll take all the help I can get. Working with the companion DVD to this book (same title, same cover picture) is a thorough method to learn the songs note-for-note from his first LP released in 1967 plus a couple more. This book has standard music notation, lyrics, chords, and some very nice biographical material and photos. There are pictures in here I've never seen before, and I've been a fan since '67! Very nicely made songbook combination fan fact-and-picture book. If you're under 60 and Jimi Hendrix was before your time, this is a great look at Jimi himself and gives an idea of what it was like in the brief 4 years he occupied the international spotlight. Also a great supplemental learning tool to support the DVD lessons. Highly recommended for the Hendrix fan and for the guitarist who wants to know and play Jimi's music.
