The Alfred Music in the Making Book includes a teacher's page for each piece. Each begins with a Pre-exposure, with suggestions for musical recordings and art prints, as well as other objects, to be placed in the classroom a day or two before the given lesson. This is done without any verbal attention from the teacher. The objects are put there for unconscious absorption by the children, which in some way can relate to and enrich their understanding of the lesson that follows. The impact for accelerated learning that results is cumulative because of the emotional and cognitive stimulus to deeper areas of the brain, gained from masterworks in the art form.
