If you're tired of lugging your acoustic bass, the Yamaha Silent Electric Bass is for you. Its removable frame offers portability while providing natural feel and support. This 3/4-scale Yamaha bass can be played pizzicato or bowed for a full, rich tone. Its 3-ply body design eliminates unwanted feedback. Internal electronics let you simply plug in and play without external preamplification, and the Yamaha Silent Bass has dual piezo pickups (located under the bridge) to deliver optimum natural tone. Adjustable bridge and a pickup balance control let you tailor the feel and response to your individual needs. Yamaha built in headphone and line out jacks and an in jack for connecting CD or tape player to your Silent Bass.

This bass has a great jazz sound. It's much more portable than a traditional upright bass and it's less suseptible to harsh weather. The pick up sounds great and with the right amp you can get a wonderful warm woody thud out of it. Have to keep a lot of 9volts around but otherwise an awesome bass.

This is a pretty decent bass compared to other electric double basses I have played before. It actually has a detachable frame body so it has a natural upright feel to it. It is also made of wood so the sound made from the bass is quite good and you can also feel the vibrations of the instrument which also adds to the good feeling. My only complaint is that this bass is quite unbalanced when you rest it on your shoulder and that its pickups are quite poor for pizzicato bass. It suits arco and classical players better than it does for jazz or bluegrass players

THIS ELECTRIC UPRIGHT LOOKS TO BE THE BEST A BASSIST CAN GET TO WITHOUT A REAL UPRIGHT. IT IS MADE OF WOOD SO THE BASSIST WILL STILL BE ABLE TO FEEL THE VIBRATIONS IN HIS BODY.

I've played the bass for about 14 years, the stand up and guitar, and I have to say this is an extraordinary step in music technology. The sound of the silent bass is incredible, and sounds beautiful, and is a must for any bass player.
