I found this bass to have a nice, but small punch and almost totally no real resonance or sustain. It might work well with a lot of amplifier Watts and in a semi-lead position, but it cannot actually groove and lay down a decent backbone to the mix. If you don't pump it hard, you'll get blown out by a decent guitar amp at 50%. It felt OK - but just OK. The action cannot truly be tested as it was in a store and I'd reset everything anyway - but as it was, it felt decent enough to get a fair appraisal of it's tone and voice. This is a good bass to practice on, but why practice on something that won't really gig well? It's finicky-ness isn't going to make a n00b happy with it either - it's more along the lines of something a player might want just for collection-sake - but not a good grinder or gigger bass at all, IMHO.
