A smaller, comfortable cousin of the StingRay.
The Music Man Sterling 4-String Bass has a similar shape to the StingRay, but is shorter and narrower, with a slightly smaller neck (34" scale, 7.5" radius). It also features hot-rodded electronics: active 3-band preamp, a Music Man humbucker with hum Canceling phantom coil, and unique 3-way switching (both coils in series mode, single coil, and both coils in parallel mode). Schaller BM tapered-post tuners. Volume, treble, mid, bass controls. Includes a hardshell case ($115 value).

Own the Sterling single humbucker and although the Sterling and Stingray are both excellent instruments, I prefer the Sterling in every way to the Stingray 4. The thinner "jazz-style" neck is more comfortable for me to play than the wider Stingray neck, and the smaller body is lighter and fits my body shape better than the 'Ray. I also prefer the tone of the ceramic pickups to the alnico in the 'Ray. All those are subjective, of course, so you try the one that fits you and you like best. Can't go wrong with either for that classic EBMM tone.

Like other bass players, I've owned and experimented with all the major brands over many years. The Sterling is a well built, reliable bass that is easy to play and sounds GREAT.

I have played owned almost every top of the line bass ever built.They are either to heavy or you just caunt get the range of smoth but penatrating sound you want to present this bass has it all if I could have only found it years sooner it would hane saved me thousands of dollars .great for recording in the studio or on stage.I HAVE PLAYED FOR THIRTY YEARS .if you or a serious bass player you got to try one out .RON
