Comments about MTD Kingston Heir 5-String Bass Guitar:
I have owned this bass in the past, sold it when I was no longer in need of a five string. I recommend it as one of the better mid-range, imported 5-string basses on the market. A few features set this one apart. The neck is very comfortable, and I liked the asymetric shape, although this feature is more noticeable on a four string than on a fiver. Liked the zero fret. The overall weight was not too bad. Mine had a maple fretboard, which was easy to play and provided a solid tone, but was rather plain looking and it kind of left me cold. I never got comfortable with 35" scale, but that's just me. The electronics and pickups were good, not great. I preferred the MM pickup to the jazz pickup for tone and beefyness, the jazz pickup sounded a little thin when soloed. Overall, I give it a 7 out of 10.
