Ibanez SR 506

Comments about Ibanez SR506 Soundgear 6-String:

The Ibanez SR506 6-string Bass is probably one of the best deals for your money on the market. I have played and owned everything from custom builds to factory built Basses. Played high dollar Roscoe 6-strings custom built for high dollars, Tobias, Yamaha, Rickenbacker, Alembic and the list goes on of what I have owned and played. My SR 506 6-string is hands down my favorite Bass. It simply can't be beat for the money. When it comes time for your solo just kick up the mid range switch and you get an Alembic type of mid rangey sound. When your riff is done just throw the switch back down and your back to that Fat thick laying down the groove type sound I have grown to love. I am a Studio musician and have played for about 35 years. I have c.d.s of my own out, as well as played on several others with name bands that I have had the honor of sharing the stage with. Just go out and try one for yourself before you get something else that doesn't maybe quite match up. Treat yourself to the world of Ibanez, you will be glad you did. I was.

A bass for years

Comments about Ibanez SR506 Soundgear 6-String:

The Ibanez SR506 is a must have. It is a great instrument by Ibanez with ample features for such an affordable price. I have had this instrument in excess of five (5) years and I am very pleased with its performance. The Bartolini pickups and balancer along with the Bartolini active 3-band EQ makes it great for a variety of tone options which makes the sound a listening pleasure for me and my fans. The mahogany body gives it a great natural look that both myself and my fans admire. I have been playing bass for over (fifteen) 15 years and it is the best I have own. I have used it a geat deal at various church services, gigs and concerts. I greatly appreciate its light weight since I use it so much. Practicing is a pleasure. The fretboard is quite comfortable which makes bass playing a breeze. I recommend the Ibanez SR506 bass for everyone who loves playing bass because it has great benefits.

Keep those kid gloves handy.

Comments about Ibanez SR506 Soundgear 6-String:

I own this, and I own an older SR406. Having said that, lets make some comparisons. The new neck is slimmer so this plays much easier. The Bartolini system is luscious and responsive, and you get oodles more out of your notes. The body is much slimmer, which takes away much of the weight from it's big, fat, older brother. It's a plus, but I've found it lacking in strap-placed balance. It tends to nose-dive. My main rub with it, though, is the bridge. A heavy thumb is NOT WELCOME HERE. I find myself continually adjusting the saddles after finding them being pounded down to the point the action gets so low the big strings start to buzz. Never a problem with the older Ibanezes (Ibanezes?) Light and fast is definitely the name of the game. A great sounding, great playing bass, but you've been warned: It's not exactly the "take a lickin' and keep on pickin'" bass I've been accustomed to from the older one.

a champion bass

Comments about Ibanez SR506 Soundgear 6-String:

I got this bass at the beginning of the year and im still impressed. the P/ups give a range from gentle to kill with the turn of a knob. the extra eq knobs are a great touch for balancing. the neck is awesome. small necks are vastly overrated. the neck has the perfect taper from nut to base. the big plus on the neck is the b string. its not growly like alot of other basses. the SG B506 also is amazingly light. i can play for hours without feeling dragged down. bottom line. the B506 gets the DB stamp of approval.
