The Ibanez SR500 Bass is an incredibly well-crafted and equipped bass for its price. It features a slim, fast SR4 5-piece wenge and bubinga neck on a sculpted mahogany body. The rosewood fretboard is fitted with medium frets and has oval abalone markers, while the maple fretboard version boasts black dot inlays. The Accu-Cast B20 bridge offers easier string changes, single-screw saddle and height adjustment, and improved stability. For pickups it sports 2 Bartonlini MK1s which integrate perfectly with its active Bartolini MK1 3-band EQ. It's a bass that will excel in any style of music.

I have owned Fender Jazz basses, Washburns, and lots of Yamahas. I am blown away by this bass. The neck is a sliver, very easy to play, and yet solid. The bass looks gorgeous with the mahogany body. The active electronics allow me to get any sound I need. Right now I am getting a great Wooten tone by cranking the mid range on my amp. I have great control over the output. I find it easy to play for finger style, or slapping. The only drawback is the battery compartment. Yamaha has the best engineering on that feature. I got mine blemished for $429. It was a steal. Also, I bought this bass as my right hand was diagnosed with arthritis. The thin neck is very playable, and I can fly on it. Buy One!

I traded in a very good slap Bass for a Washburn T24 that had a little wider neck. Then I decided to get the SR500, which I am glad I did, but the down fall like some else said, is you can't slap on this Bass. BUT THAT IS NOT GOING TO DETER ME FROM GIVING IT 5 STARS, WHICH IT RICHLY DESERVES. Ibanez knew what they were doing when they put this Bass together, there's absolutely no doubt about that. An amazing Bass. I recomend this Bass to anybody, beginner or expert.

I've had the SR500 for over a year now and let me tell you, this bass is flawless in tone. You get everything from fierce bottom end to nice mellow piano like mids. I put some Fender nylon wounds on this thing and it still sounds like my ceiling is about to cave in.The ONLY flaw about this bass is that it's not made for popping and slapping. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great but everythime my fingernails hit the body I end up gouging out some wood. But to me it does not matter, this bass is THE bass for me, and Im not going to sell it. It's the lightest bass I ever held and the neck is so super thin it feels as if Im playing air bass.Get this bass, and try out the Fender nylon wounds. They're a good match.

I bought his bass about 1 month ago and I haven't put it down yet. It looks great, sounds great, and feels great!!!!! I would recommend this bass to anyone. It stays in tune, you get monster tone, and it's really easy to play. I have a really crappy amp and it sounds sounds great with this guitar. I say to all of you looking into this bass....BUY IT NOW!!!

In my 40+ years playing bass, both professional and just for fun. I have owned and played Kay, Gibson, and 3 Fender P Basses. This instrument is lighter, easier to play, and has better tone than any of the above listed instruments. I wish I would have found this Bass years ago

I went to a music store and tried that bass and I must say I loved its size and weight. I have never seen a bass that is so light. It was amazingly comfortable and sounded great.

You cannot beat this bass for the price. The construction is superb, combining beauty with playability. Haven't found a better bass for under $1000. There are 3 bass players including myself in my high school and all of us play some kind of sr500. They are simply the best playing, best sounding bass available in this range.
