This was the first 5-string bass that I ever owned and it is great. It's not that expensive and it sounds really good. The Ibanez Soundgear series is the only kind of bass I play now because of the quality and playability of all of the Ibanez Soundgear basses. The neck is rather thin, which makes it easier to play, and I would recommend this bass to anyone who wants to begin playing a 5-string or anyone who just was a good priced, goodsounding bass.In other words ths is a really good bass.

This bass has a huge tonal range due to the PHAT boost and the tone control. With the boost up and using a muddy tone you can get some awesome metal sounds while with the boost off and the tone control set to pick up the higher tones you can get a nice sharp sound great for funk. This bass is easy to play and is best for finger or pick styles. The small spacing is not ideal for slapping styles. This bass is an awesome buy!

This bass ROCKS!

Comments about Ibanez GSR205 5-String Bass:

I just got this in the mail yesterday. I am a beginner bass player but have played guitar for 16 years so when I say this is an awesome sounding/feeling bass you may question my experience. I play by ear so I am very tone oriented. Once this puppy was in tune it sounded awesome. I have it running through an ampeg BA115T and Im sure that has a lot to do with it, but it is still an exceptional sound quality, even unplugged it sounds clear and great!!

Pretty good for what it is

Comments about Ibanez GSR205 5-String Bass:

Pretty good bass for the money you're spending. I bought it for about $179 new when i went to the Phillipines. I gave it a 4 rating because of everything i had to do when i recieved this bass. i would suggest to tighten the screws that hold in the pickups and adjust the truss bar asap when you get this product. Overall this bass has a good sound. The active pickups give it that sound when youre playing from jazz, to rock, ETC. I would recommend this guitar for people who are first time 5 string users.

good quality bass

Comments about Ibanez GSR205 5-String Bass:

This bass was a good price excellent sound with the active pick, would recommend to new user that want to get a 5 string bass. The only thing I found was the strings were to close to the fretboard which would cut out your sound when your jamming and would require adjustments made with the neck adjuster, but other then that the bass is excellent. The Phat EQ is a cool feature that brings out lots of BASS.

highly recommended first bass

Comments about Ibanez GSR205 5-String Bass:

I bought bass when I was in 10th grade and now I am a junior in college. This bass feels great and sounds very good. The hardware has held out wonderfully even though many hot jam sessions in sheds and such. I've messed around with a lot of beginner basses and this honestly is my favorite bass under 600.

Always a good choice

Comments about Ibanez GSR205 5-String Bass:

You can never go wrong with Ibanez. The GSR is definitely one of the first gig guitars anyone should buy....and then feel free to move on to a better Ibanez!! (The k5 and egrodyne are my personal favorites) When I say better, I don't mean that the GSR is bad, it is AWESOME, like all other Ibanez. Its easy to play right out of the box, will give you good tones and can give you ANY sound you are looking for....that's always my problem with basses, I play all types of music, and whenever I buy a new guitar, there is just something it cant do. But an Ibanez can always do it all!!
