I recently purchased the GSR200 Transparent Red. I am very happy with the aesthetic beauty of this instrument and the excellent workmanship for this low end bass. I'm a beginner on electric bass so I can't speak with much experience, however I am very satisfied with my choice and I think I will be able to grow with this bass for many years before trading up, if ever. It did require a little set-up tweaking for intonation, when I first got it. I bought the Ibanez SWR65 amp at the same time and am equally impressed with the sound. I wouldn't recommend going for lower wattage, even for a beginner. I like being able to grow into the equipment as my skill improves.

Review of Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass
Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass:
I am a guitarist/pianist for 25+ years. I currently have 10 guitars (electrics, acoustics, a 12 string) and decided it was a good time to finally invest in a bass. I shopped around quite a bit before deciding on the Ibanez GSR200. When it arrived (in about three days) I was, admittedly, less than impressed. The action was nice and low but the fret buzz was horrible. I ended up raising the action a little and bowing the neck (something I've never deliberately done before and would only recommend as a last resort). Suddenly it came together and now plays very well. The pickups are adequate (I'm not a fan of active pickups but these are pretty decent) and can always be changed out if desired. The finish is perfect and, even after a month, still looks perfect. Style-wise I play Victor Wooten/Jaco-type jazz stuff with lots of tapping and slapping and this bass stays in tune perfectly. I keep the "bass boost" control nearly off because it adds too much mud when soloing but I can see some people (8th note/pedal tone rock-type bass) using it. Overall: It's a good bass once it adjusted properly and for the price I'd very much recommend it as a backup or starter instrument.

Reign thunder
Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass:
I tried this bass out at my friend's house. At first glance, it looked like some cheap flimsy Ibanez bass that was a dime a dozen. To my surprise, it sounded really good. The tone was very versatile, and the neck felt nice and thin. I was most def. able to get some meaty tones out of it with no sacrifice in quality. I'd have to say it has a good balance of lows and highs. The only few gripes I have were the size of the frets seemed to large. I have kind of small hands, and large frets can make it difficult to reach those notes lower on the neck. The only other thing I didn't like is the look. It just seems so plain and cheaply made looking. I think a matching headstock or something would add some nice pizazz.

great bass fo practice or shows
Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass:
i got this bass for christmas in the pearl white(beatiful finish) and it sounded great right out of the box. the only problem with it was that the truss rod needed a little adjusting to stop a tad bit of fret buzz but other than that this is just another great bass from ibanez, bravo

Good 2nd -3rd bass
Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass:
To begin I must say that the active pickups are a great asset to this bass. I have had very minimal fret buzz while playing this bass, I have been playing this bass only for a few months but even playing slap bass while tuned to dropped C the bass has a distinguished and clear sound. With the phat II bass boost this bass stands out more with its low end and deeper sounds. The rosewood fretboard has a comfortable feel with enough action to reduce fret buzz while still allowing for smooth playing. Overall I give this bass 5 stars for a 2nd-3rd bass, and to top it off this is an affordable bass that helps out when you're trying to save your money for that amp you have been wanting.

I bought one over a year ago and I was blown away by the sounds. The Phat EQ is the icing on the cake.

pretty sweet
Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass:
awesomem bass.good price. if u play with a pik and u dont want that disgusting P-bass sound, than get this, man. the jazz/precision pickups produce a smooth, punchy tone.the neck is real slim, perfect for fast david ellefson-like lines. the only downer on this bass is that there are better basses out there.it looks great, but there are better looking basses. it sounds like hell (in a good way), but there are better sounding basses. i have my eye on the soundgear version, and im liken that ESP, but i would defenitly keep this bass for its simplicity.if ur into guys like jason newsted, cliff burton, david ellefson, and duff mkagan, than get it. metal up ur ass.

Nice Bass
Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass:
Got this bass just to mess around with. Sounds great. I haven't played many others, but I've heard a lot of higher end ones, and hear no differences. Pick it up, its the best in its price range. Slim neck, good pickups. What else do you need?
