The best of both bass worlds, for a great price.

The Ibanez AEB5E acoustic-electric bass delivers a punchy low end, whether amplified or not. As an unplugged acoustic bass, its agathis body and sides give it a warm tone.

The Ibanez piezo pickup and Ibanez AEQ-202T preamp with 2-band EQ and onboard tuner allows quick tuning and easy amplification with a natural acoustic sound.

Acoustic bass adds a tasty layer of warm, low-end resonance that makes songs come alive and arrangements sound more fleshed-out. When amplified, the Ibanez AEB5E bass guitar uses its pickup and preamp to pump the tone and offer the thump you need at whatever volume.

Comments about Ibanez AEB5E Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I'm very pleased with this bass. It delivers enough sound unplugged for practice, improvisation and composition. The quality of sound is round and full. Being light and well balanced makes it very easy to hold. Under amplification the accoustic quality of the sound is dimminished, but it holds up well as an electric sound. The action on my bass is very low, making it easy to play but reducing the dynamic range. The neck has an adjustable truss rod, so it is possible to change this to your liking.

    Excellent Bass, Nice price

Comments about Ibanez AEB5E Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I'm fast becoming an Ibanez fan. I'm just getting into acoustic bass and have tried some of the other modestly priced ones - Dean, Rogue (which are both decent values, btw) - but the Ibanez AEB5E is head and shoulders above them as far as sound and playability goes. A big plus for me is that the size is perfect. The Dean is too big to play comfortably and the Rogue is too small to have decent volume unplugged. The Ibanez matches the large-body Dean volume, has great action and even comes with a spare, larger bridge insert to adjust action. I'll enjoy this bass but am already looking toward getting the Ibanez AEB10E. The only minus I can think of is that the onboard tuner doesn't work without being plugged in. I guess so you don't leave it on and drain the battery... Other than that, I'm very pleased with this bass and will stick with Ibanez unless/until I get good enough to go with a high-end AB. And even then, I'll check out Ibanez!

    "Deep Throated Bass"

    By Joel Collins

    from Westminster, SC

Comments about Ibanez AEB5E Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I bought this Acoustic Electric Bass and have played with it on stage twice now. First of all, it is light as a feather! It sounds truly as deep and as powerful and has a big punch just as an electric bass does. Before, I was playing a Peavy T-140 Bass that was so heavy that it took the pleasure out of playing, but now, with this new light model guitar, along with it's sound, I enjoy playing bass more than I ever have. I've already played Country and Gospel on it and some Rock. It is the right choice in an Electrical Acoustic Bass. The built in tuner is a real joy. I tuned the guitar by the tuner and was in "perfect" tune with the other pieces of music in the band. After playing at "Farm Days" in Dacusville, SC 2 days in a row, different people came up and complimented me on it's looks and sound! It made me very proud! It is definitely worth the money as quality doesn't come any cheaper and I wouldn't trade it for a $1000 guitar because it does everything the expensive ones do for far less money!
