Comments about Fender FSR Standard J Bass:
This is the bass that I have wanted for over 30 years. They say all things happen in their proper time--and I guess it was indeed time! First of all--the natural ash coupled with the dark fret board and pick guard creates one visually stunning instrument. There is NO better look than wood grain and this bass is just another proof of that fact. The J neck is a dream--smooth and quick. The action is low--just how I like it--right out of the box. (And only one string was "out of tune," to boot!) The pick-ups are awesome--tune in your desired sound; (mine is deep--dark--solid) and played through my Peavey 115 TNT with a Black Widow I get just that. Through my Crate BX-200 with two 10's and an 18" I can make this baby really "grunt." (A sound difficult to describe, but if/when you hear it, you'll never forget it.) Ever since I saw Tim Bogert on the (back) cover of Beck, Bogert and Appice with his Fender, I've wanted a Fender (natural) bass. I think (maybe) his is a P bass (and it has a white pick guard) --and I'll probably never play as well as he--but my J bass with the brown flecked pick guard is better looking. I "won't" afford an American Fender and I was a tad bit leery of this standard MIM version--but upon receipt all my concerns were put to rest. The legendary Fender quality and "moxy" are present! I own another Fender, an Epiphone T-Bird, an Ibanez (or 2), a Traben, a couple of Schecters and while they are all super instruments, none of them compare to this Natural Ash Fender Jazz Bass. This is how a bass is SUPPOSED to LOOK and SOUND. The wait was well worth it--and now the wait is over. Rock On~~~~~~~~~
