American-crafted quality from Fender, priced for working musicians.
The new Fender American Special Precision Bass bring you the latest in U.S.-built quality and value! With its slim neck profile, high-gloss finish, and Fender Greasebucket tone circuit, you get classic American Fender looks and playability plus dynamic and versatile tone.
The Fender American Special Precision Bass begins with an alder body and C-shaped maple neck. A maple fretboard comes standard on the Black and Candy Apple Red models, with a rosewood fretboard on the Olympic White and Three-color Sunburst models. All models feature medium-jumbo frets.
A split-coil alnico pickup provides the legendary American P Bass sound, and Fender's Greasebucket tone circuit rolls off highs while maintaining low-end definition, ensuring you'll cut through any mix. Finishing touches include knurled chrome knobs, vintage-style bridge and strap buttons, and a deluxe gig bag.

Comments about Fender American Special Precision Bass:
I'm learning to play bass and I admit I don't have enough experience to completely evaluate this instrument, but I'm extremely proud to have it! Made In America means a lot, and overall this bass is top notch for a beginner or probably anyone using an import. Love the Maple Fretboard! My ONLY complaint is that the "tuning keys" seem too thin, but I haven't compared to other US P-basses and that may be the standard. Greasebucket circuit works great for me, and the tone is clear and tight, not muddy at all. If I was to upgrade anything, it would be the keys and perhaps the pick up, and although it's not necessary, THIS bass would make sense to upgrade or customize. I had an Epi Thunderbird IV, and this is miles ahead in overall quality, even though I loved that T-Bird and it was well made! Go ahead and step up confidently to this US made, high quality, traditional instrument and you'll have no worries down the road. Not to mention the price was great and the wood is beautiful too!
