Not So Special..
Comments about Fender American Special Jazz Bass:
I received an American Special Jazz Bass and kept it for one day before returning it. Everything about it was average at best. Tuners and bridge were flimsy, neck pocket was sloppy, the finish on the back of the neck had some minor pits in it, the shallow neck was not meaty enough for me, the tone circuit was uninspiring, pickups were just OK, one of the 4 neck bolts looked overdriven into the neck plate. Really, I hope this is not the norm for an instrument in this price range.
I sold an '03 American Series for this. BIG MISTAKE! The '03 was superior to this thing in every way!
Live and learn but I'm going back to an American Standard. The extra $$$ are worth it.
