The new Fender® American Special Jazz Bass bring you the latest in U.S.-built quality and value! With its slim neck profile, high-gloss finish, and Fender Greasebucket™ tone circuit, you get classic American Fender looks, playability plus dynamic and versatile tone.
The Fender American Special Jazz Bass begins with an alder body and C-shaped maple neck. A maple fretboard comes standard on the Black and Candy Apple Red models, with a rosewood fretboard on the Olympic White and Three-color Sunburst models. All models feature medium-jumbo frets.
Single coil alnico Jazz Bass pickups deliver legendary American J Bass sound, and Fender's Greasebucket tone circuit rolls off highs while maintaining low-end definition, ensuring you'll cut through any mix. Comments about Fender American Special Jazz Bass:
I received an American Special Jazz Bass and kept it for one day before returning it. Everything about it was average at best. Tuners and bridge were flimsy, neck pocket was sloppy, the finish on the back of the neck had some minor pits in it, the shallow neck was not meaty enough for me, the tone circuit was uninspiring, pickups were just OK, one of the 4 neck bolts looked overdriven into the neck plate. Really, I hope this is not the norm for an instrument in this price range.
I sold an '03 American Series for this. BIG MISTAKE! The '03 was superior to this thing in every way!
Live and learn but I'm going back to an American Standard. The extra $$$ are worth it.
