Double your pleasure with two amp tones!

The Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive pedal gives you the dynamic punch of a clean amp, and the sustain and warmth of an overdriven amp, all in a single stompbox. Sparkle Drive's unique Clean control lets you blend its overdrive circuit with a boosted clean signal for a rich, layered guitar tone.

With the Clean control off (fully counterclockwise), the overdrive circuit has the same classic tones as a vintage 808. With the Clean control all the way up, you get a super transparent, 100% clean boost with tons of output for driving the front end of your amp. Just spend a few minutes dialing-in the Clean control with your setup, and you'll find a sweet spot that no other single effect pedal can deliver. The Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive features true bypass switching, a heavy-duty metal switch and on/off status LED. Hand built in the U.S.A. and fully backed by a 5-year warranty.

  • Multiple, layered amp sounds - one clean, one overdriven
  • Overdrive circuit delivers vintage 808 sounds
  • 100% clean boost circuit with tons of output

Superbly flexible, high intregrity pedal--best as clean boost

By John Burdick

from New Paltz, New York

Comments about Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive Pedal:

Consensus opinion is that this extremely useful boost/drive pedal is modeled after the famous Ibanez TS-9. I wouldn't know about that. What I do know is that with its 2-channel architecture, this is one of the most flexible boost/drive pedals you are ever likely to encounter. I am sure most of us keep a more gonzo distortion pedal in the chain for when that flavor is required. (RAT for me!) This fills a different void, running the range between pretty pristine clean boost and a grit and skank. "Gain" controls the gritty channel. "Clean" controls--epiphany!--the clean boost channel. The "Tone" knob affects only the Gain channel. "Volume" is a master volume. Simple but so highly interactive. My favorite settings involve the Clean as the dominant channel with the gain blended in to taste--I don't adore the Gain as the dominant channel. But with clean set high, there is a really impressive spectra of tones available by adjusting the gain and various settings of the "Tone" knob. How you experience this pedal will depend an awful lot on your amp. It sends the Blackface Princeton I record with into glorious spasms of tube overdrive pretty quickly. My Blues Deluxe reissue, on the other, can tolerate quite a bit of Sparkle Drive before breaking up. Since that is my gigging amp, it is not uncommon that the Sparkle Drive stays "on all night," or close to it, as it really seems to have an "embiggening" effect on my whole chain. It does perhaps have a bit of a mid-bump, but I like a mid-bump! A mid-bump is "vintage" and this is a pedal definitely suited for vintage cats. At this price it is a ridiculous value. I've also owned a Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe. I think their stuff seriously hangs with boutique pedals that are twice as expensive. You will hear about switch problems (you will also hear that VL support is pretty responsive). I haven't experienced that yet after well over a year of heavy use. Recommended for sure.

Better than the Average Tubescreamer Clone

By Joshua Rodriguez

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive Pedal:

Tubescreamer pedals are a kind of baseline distortion tone, especially if you play Fender amps and look to get that kind of SRV/classic rock sound. But I've never liked how they suck out bass and treble, and I've felt that they can give guitar tone an almost overprocessed signal that screams "overdrive pedal." The Sparkle Drive overcomes a lot of this by letting you blend your clean sound with the dirty Tubescreamer sound, or go with one or the other. The effect sounds kind of weird on a clean amp, like two different guitars are playing, but on a cranked tube amp, it really allows you to get more overdrive while retaining bass. I like how you can just use it as a clean boost - great for goosing a Marshall into hard-rock territory or making a Fender sound more mean. Plus, the pedal seems built pretty well, enough to withstand some serious abuse. A really great way to get a Tubescreamer type sound and a great clean boost in one pedal.
