Most realistic sound that I ever heard. It has great performance when used directly with a PA. If only it had amp cabinet modellings and miking options too.

great sound! not digital!

This pedal kicks line 6 am4's butt! NO digital sound! am4 had lots of feedback, their noise gate did nothing! this pedal sounds great! i love it and i highly recommend it to everyone and whatever music style they like, METAL is mine! it is LOUD also. i plug my SG into it and through my clean channel on my Randall RH200, keep the eq flat, and crank it! i have a nice clean fender, marshall, and boogie sound!!!!1,2,3! it's worth it! rock on!

Compact, functional, and fantastic!

I will not describe the various details of how the pedal works. Tech 21 says it very well on their website. I was looking for a compact, versatile and simple to use pre-amp "direct to PA mixer" for live performance to replace using an amplifier.(this became a requirement for the venue I was playing in) This is the best unit out there for this purpose. I tried POD, Zoom, Digitech, and various other more expensive solutions, but this provided a natural sounding amplified sound. Tones are very, very close to the original amplifiers it models. Of course if you want the real deal you have to pay for it. However if you want a compact no fuss type pedal that is as close as you will get to the real thing, this is it. I have been using this unit now for 14 months straight every weekend. No failures, no hiccups, no problems what so ever. The tones I have dialed in have remained constant with no change. If I need to tweak the sound I don't have to flip through 80 or hundred patches to do so. It is just like an amplifier.( Active controls. A little tweak one way or the other makes a big difference.) Just make sure your sound man runs the channel on the mixer flat and you have pure sweet Fender, Marshall, and Mesa tone. This pedal reacts exactly like an amplifier. It over drives distorts with more volume and backs off the distortion when you lower the volume. It acts like a tube amp. Wonderful! Amazing this little box is so warm. Does not sound digital at all. I would recommend this unit over most anything that is out there. Tech 21 gear is very professional and reliable. If you're tired of lugging around those Marshall stacks and all those heavy amplifiers, give this thing a try. I believe any experienced guitarist can find a use for this pedal.
