Comments about Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo Amp:

this amp is pretty good for the price, the only issue is that valveking speaker, it lack that smooth low end, but nothing that a speaker change can't fix. i recommend this amp for any player of any kind it's very versatile.

Great Amp!

By Will-XNzZa

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo Amp:

I got this amp about two weeks ago, and it is amazing. It plays everything from blues to some pretty serious metal. Also, this thing is LOUD! The only thing to make it better would be an OD pedal to tighten up the distortion a little. Other than that, a nice solid amp! Well worth the money.

Absolutely FANTASTIC Amplifier

By The Snake Guy

from Ontario, Canada

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo Amp:

I'm a 41-year-old beginner to the guitar, (and much better on the drum kit), and I just brought the Peavey Valve-King 112 combo home today from my local shop. I must say that I am more than favorably impressed with this little unit. I've been using a Fender 15 watt practice amp, so this one is like a "revelation" to me! I don't normally write reviews, but I am so taken with this wonderful product from the folks at Peavey that I must. Please remember that I'm just a beginner, self-taught, and I do not profess to be any kind of great musician - just a "hobbyist" having lots of fun!It looks great. I like the drive channel sounds, but if you don't, I'm sure that you could team the amp up with a good pedal. I've tried it with my Danelectro FAB D-1 and D-2 pedals and it sounds amazing. The clean channel, to me, sounds especially nice, and quite loud enough for me in my basement. I was able to get a beautiful tone for 12-bar barre-chord Blues. SWEET! I find the amp to be very quiet in general while in operation - in other words, very little hiss with the gain turned up. The "texture" knob is kind of cool. It seems to give you a nice, full at fairly low volumes. While I'm certain that more experienced players may find a few things to critique, I think that this product is just ideal for someone like myself.I would recommend this amplifier to anyone.

not a bad deal but needs help

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo Amp:

Not a bad deal for the price. I had mine about an hour when I changed the speaker to a VL80 celestion. What a difference! Now the amp rocks esp. on the distorted channel. I didn't know they are made in China. reverb tank was falling out. Cheap pre-amp tubes, I'll change them next but as it is now, it sounds great for the money. Still not sure about the texture control, not much of a difference.

Okay for the Money

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo Amp:

I played around with one of these for about a month, and in the end it came down to this. For the most part the amp has a pretty good tone, and it works well enough with Single Coil pickups. Humbuckers seem to have a little to much kick however. Their okay with normal playing, but when you really whack the strings, they really whack the speaker. The speaker is really the worst of this amp. If there is a weak link in this chain, it's the "Specially Voiced" (IE:CHEAP) speaker that comes with it. I truly believe that if you changed out the speaker, you might just have something here. Be that as it may, you really can't go wrong for the price. Lets just call it a great introductory level Tube Amp and leave it at that.

A versatile little monster of a tube amp and an awesome value.

By Dave-Vej6X

from kelowna bc

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo Amp:

I was amazed at the range of tones available thru the VK112, and found all the pots were much more responsive than most amps costing three times as much. It leans more toward 'Marshall' than 'cranked Fender', but a decent approximation of a dimed black-face Deluxe is possible. It really is THAT versatile. It is also a very loud 50 watts, as a tube amp should be, and with a better speaker you could easily gig unmiked in all but the largest clubs - not that the stock speaker is horrible ... it ain't. I'd give it a four if it cost twice as much, but at this price it gets a FIVE. And it deserves every one of those little gold stars. Another winner from Mississippi.

Good, but not loud enough for me.

By Daniel-4.pag

from Gainesville VA

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo Amp:

I got a chance to borrow one of these- great sounding amp, excellent distortion- but the speaker distorts at high volumes (not pleasant) due to too much wattage being pushed through it. If you played with distortion all the time in medium sized indoor gigs it might work- but I need to play large outdoor shows- and I need cleans occasionally, and this amp can't deliver cleans above 6 or 7, and with the A/B Setting more towards the A side, around 4.
