This is a nice well constructed pedal which works as advertised. Out of the box it had clear and detailed operating instructions along with brochures of other MXR products. Upon plugging a cable into the input the LED meter shows you the unit is ready for action. Although it is easy to setup there are plenty of options for players to tailor the unit to their playing styles and although I have been using it I am still experimenting with the best settings for me. I think one of the best features is the LED showing you how much the signal is being compressed as you are playing so you can tweak the settings based on visual feedback. I must say that I am pleased to have good volume across all six strings on my MTD Kingston bass and it maintains the bass' sound. The only thing I would change about the pedal is that you need to take four screws out of the bottom to access the battery. I have to see still if the battery lasts a long time and doesn't give out in the middle of a performance before I consider this too much of an issue. Other than that I am very happy with this product and look forward to it beefing up my sound during gigs.
