This amp is UNBELIEVABLE and it's a SOLID STATE. This head puts tube amps and the amps its modelling to complete shame! There's no better deal than this amp, there are all the amp models (100% accurate) you would ever want and the effects in one package for the price of one modelled amp. I bought this within 10 minutes of testing it out. It so amazing. It's so realistic and you get 16 amps all in one for the price of one. 300 Watts! Make your ears bleed! You have nothing to lose with this amp! No tubes! Nothing to worry about! Great Job Line 6! Keep Going!

I've been a Line 6 fan since I first got the POD years ago, and I still think they're amazing. The 147 is no exception. You can get nearly any tone you want and is perfect for the studio guitarist that has to play multiple styles. If you only play a few styles of music that are closely related, i.e. classic jazz and fusion, then it's really not the essential amp of the 21st century. If you are dead set on a modeling amp, then by all means go with Line6.

Good with proper set-up

By Chase--1wJ2

Comments about Line 6 HD147 300W Guitar Amp Head:

I've had it for almost a year now. No problems whatsoever with the build of it, its VERY sturdy. The pictures don't really do it justice either, its a beautiful head. As for tone, the tone is good if you know how to set it up. You have to do a lot of tweaking, like setting up gain, and treble, mid, bass, presence, cab models, etc, and then you have to make sure that where ever you are playing, they utilize the XLR outs on the back, because this amp sounds good mic'd, but it sounds better with Stereo XLR outs. Plus, the blacklights built in are always a crowd favorite. :) Personally, I'm debating whether to build a pedal board and switch to a Mesa Mark V, or stick with this. The price difference is pretty astronomical though. The fact that I'm even having to debate that says something pretty fantastic about the Line 6 HD147.

Simply Amazing

Comments about Line 6 HD147 300W Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this head sometime ago and from the minute I got it, I loved it the distortion is great one of the best I ever heard, I searched for months for the right halfstack and I've always known line 6 to be a great company so I went to GC and played it and had other people in my band hear it and they all thought it sounded sick, and with the right guitar...nothing can touch it, since it is a solid state and most people think you won't get that warmth, they're dead wrong it has just as much warmth as a Marshall, but I have a Schecter C-1 Blackjack which has amazing warmth and tone so it evens itself out perfectly, if you are still skeptical go out and play one, it speaks for itself

the ONLY head you need

By Ryan-AIzRq

from Port Orange, FL

Comments about Line 6 HD147 300W Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this because I couldn't decide between a 5150 and a Mesa Dual Rect.(which it models VERY well) and with a tube amp, you have to replace tubes and HAVE to have speakers connected to it. Not the HD147. I take the head with me on trips and play through my headphones a lot since its smaller than decent practice amps. There are so many great tones that you can get out of this thing. The clean models it has are also very good.I bought the FBV Longboard with it and it makes this a lot easier. Plus the wah-wah pedal is pretty good too. This amp also does some great cab-modeling too. There is one model that is a Mesa 4x12 with extended low end. It's CRAZY low. The 300 watts makes it a killer head. The effects are great and there the midi I/O's are nice to have along with XLRs. There is also an online database with tones created by other users that you can program into your own amp. The possibilities seem endless. It looks great in person and the lights look great in darker venues. Those who are not familiar with Line6 products may have a bit of trouble learning all the features, but it's completely worth it.

Best Amp I've Ever Played

By Karl-M9lRe

from New York

Comments about Line 6 HD147 300W Guitar Amp Head:

I went to Guitar Center a few months ago and sat down at this amp. Before I knew it almost two hours had passed and I was still fully entertained by the AWESOME sounds that came out of it. I tried it with almost every solid body guitar on the wall, 6 strings, 7 strings, and let me tell you I have never sounded that good in my life. The low end on the 7 strings came through with awesome taproot-like riffs. Since the amp was in a separate room I got a chance to crank it up quite a bit. The tone kept perfect clarity throughout with no unwanted fuzz or distortion, as if it were still at low volumes. The only downer about this amp is its price. If I could afford the tag, it would be in my room for the world to hear.

great tone

Comments about Line 6 HD147 300W Guitar Amp Head:

Just bought the HD 147 2 days ago and played my first show with it yesterday. I traded in my 2001 mesa boogie dual rectifier for it, plus some cash. This is the best amp I have ever played. Yes, you can tell the difference between the Line 6 and the real tube amp it's emulating. BUT, It still has great tone all of it's own, without the noise and hassles of a tube amp. The only thing I dislike is the footswitch cable, which is cheap and thin. I will no doubt need to buy a spare soon. The chrome is very easy to blemish, but they give you a cover that seems to be made of a polishing cloth. I guess they figured it would come in handy.

The Real Deal

By Jim-_O1jH

Comments about Line 6 HD147 300W Guitar Amp Head:

I a-b'd this head with my 5150 head and the HD-147 stomped on it. More bottom end--more articulation. Tube snobs be damned! This amp can hang with any tube amp. The effect models are also top rate. The Univibe was my personal favorite. Try this one before judging it. I still don't think it nails all the amp models with "authentic" tone, but it roars nonetheless. The cleans are also stellar.

Sick

Comments about Line 6 HD147 300W Guitar Amp Head:

Line6 just created the perfect head. As soon as I saw it, I just had to play it. I'm glad I did. As soon as I did I was attached to it. It sounds good even at very low volumes as well as high. The effects on it are easy to use. I'm glad I got this head and I can tell I will be sticking with it for a LONG time. This head is superior to the Marshall.

a mesa/boogie sound through a line 6?

By c-lMZ9P

from fresno, ca

Comments about Line 6 HD147 300W Guitar Amp Head:

When I played this head through a mesa/boogie 4x12 cab I was absolutely blown away. This head sounds like a mesa/boogie rectifier! You can even get good sounds at low volume levels too! I recommend this amp to anyone. I absolutely love it. The beautiful looks with the chrome face plate look mind blowing!
