Keeley

A studio-grade compressor in a guitar stompbox.

The Keeley Compressor pedal is built using tone-tested components and true bypass switching for a clean, unaffected sound when the pedal is off. Metal film resistors and capacitors ensure the cleanest compressor on the market. Hand-matched transistors to less than 1% tolerance ensures you get a perfectly compressed signal, no chance for unwanted distortions.

The Keeley Compressor is the new standard for guitar compression. It won the Editor's Pick Award from Guitar Player Magazine and, most recently, the Reader's Choice Award for the stompbox category. It features an internal attack control to make it suitable for high-output active basses. It also features an input sensitivity control which allows it to be used in the studio for keyboards, drum machines, for mastering, and other line-level uses.

Low current draw, just 5mA. Uses a standard 9V DC battery and has an AC adapter connection.

Features

  • Its transistors are matched for gain (Hfe) within 1%
  • True bypass
  • Metal film resistors and capacitors
  • Internal attack control

Keeley Compressor

By Fernando-4tZVc

Comments about Keeley Compressor Guitar Effect Pedal:

I'm pleased with it. Is a nice sounding compressor, which I find quite nice sounding mostly in country styles. With a pronounced tendency to electrify your guitar sound and push the high frequencies. Right out the box wasn't that mellow, I had to fiddle with the internal attack trimpot (Which I turned all the way down) to get less attack. Now I have both worlds... Clean sustain and percusive string attack. In my opinion this compressor is overrated, you can get the same result for much less money. Anyway, a Keeley is a Keeley and holds his value. The pedal guts are amazingly proffessionally done and the electronic components are highly qualitative. The true bypass switch pops when engaged, not much buy noticeable. Min point there Robert. A 1M resistor bethween the input signal and ground will solve this. As conclusion I would say vintage Ross mojo, with less noise issues and quite squashy.

Best pedal compressor I've ever used

By jackinvox

from Undisclosed

Comments about Keeley Compressor Guitar Effect Pedal:

In more than 35 years of playing, the Keeley Compressor is the quietest, most natural sounding (no high-frequency loss) compressor I've used. The Keeley's premium components produce a studio-quality effect in a compact box that uses very little pedal board real estate but delivers big smiles to its user. While, with the sustain control max'ed out, it is possible to produce radically squashed sounds (with a bit of additional noise), this pedal excels in moderate to slightly exaggerated compression settings that are crystal clear and very "musical." The adjustable internal sensitivity control is something not found on most less-expensive pedals and it's a big plus for compensating for the inherent differences in output levels of various instruments. With the level control up and the sustain level down, this pedal can double as a clean boost for solos. The Keeley Compressor is not cheap but, for discerning players, I'm sure you'll agree that it's worth it.

Excelent pedal

By Mike Green

Comments about Keeley Compressor Guitar Effect Pedal:

I tried this pedal in my local music store. I was playing a passive Fender J bass the Keely compressor to a 100 watt Fender Rumble combo amp with a 15 in it. There was a guy about 30 ft. away from me playing a Ampeg SVT rig with a Svt 410hlf cab. When I turned on the Keely the little Fender combo sounded 10 times better, close to the Ampeg rig that I was listening to. Joe Satriani's bassist Dave Larue said he uses it. I see why.
