Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA50H 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
It only took five minutes of golden rock tone for me to fall in love with this amplifier and end my 25 year quest for the ultimate tone. If you love classic hard rock crunch and dynamic pinch harmonics, then this is the amp for you. Now, after that love fest, on to my observations after having the JCA50H for six months and playing countless gigs out and about. First, know that I play hard rock/classic rock through a Les Paul. Now, on to the amp, which is very well built. Everything about it is solid. Inside, the wiring and soldering is clean and near perfect. Changing tubes was quick and simple. Setting bias was a breeze. Some people complain about the effects loop but I have been extremely satisfied with it. The amp has two channels, normal and overdrive. A person can get some good early AC/DC crunch from the normal channel but if you're looking for head room for super clean playing, well, it leaves a little to be desired. It's the main reason I don't give this amp a 10. The overdrive channel is awesome. It's the Soldano SLO Lead channel and it lives up to the name. I can't even describe the goodness that flows from my speaker when I'm cooking the tubes on this channel while on stage. I can only call them golden and buttery. And on stage is where this amp shines, especially if you love the low-mid crunch sound. It cuts through a mix like nobody's business. Volume is more than enough for any live situation. I've never had it past 3.5. Can it do metal? Yes - boosted or not. If you can find one of these heads snatch it up, you won't regret it. Forget the other amps in this price range like Bugera, they pale in comparison. Oh, and you can play it at bedroom volumes and still get some nice overdrive.
