Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150S-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

    Hi Guys,

I recieved the amp last Wed.13 Nov. Arrived in one piece and is in good A1 Condition. Once I had the Power lead Changed to Aust. format and the power upgraded to 240Volts.it was up and running.
I bought it specifically for standup double bass. Plenty of tone variation and volume headroom. My Fender Jazz sounds great too.
Thanks for your prompt delivery, I'm very happy with my purchase.

    Kind regards,

    Phil Small

Great design, but better suited for rehearsals

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150S-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

I owned this for 2 yrs. The only problem I've had was that the blue LED went out. It was under warranty & GK paid for the repair. This unit is very sturdy (metal case instead of wood). There are lots of great features, incl. XLR Direct Out, Contour, Limiter, Hi and Lo Mid controls (+ Bass & Treble); Send/Rtn Loop & jacks for extension speakers. Its the most portable; i.e. LIGHTEST 100-watt combo I found. I bought the GK bag which allowed me to carry it on my shoulder, leaving both hands free. It's definitely powerful enough for rehearsals, even with a loud drummer. However, in those cases I did need to run @ almost full power. Since the cabinet isn't very deep, it doesn't project as well as a larger, deeper cab would, even if they're rated for the same watts. That's the trade-off when you want to carry 100 watts on your shoulder (note: it only outputs 150w with the extension cab). Later I bought the extension cabinet. I think this would work okay for smaller gigs, but I still don't believe most bassists would think there was enough bottom if the room had a higher ceiling. Also re: tone - there wasn't enough high end/snap for me when slapping, even with the Hi Boost engaged, but if you only play finger-style there should be more than enough tonal options. After Peavey introduced the Tour series heads I decided to pair the Tour 450 with (1) Bag End S10-DX cab. The S10 is about the same size and weight as the GK, but sounds MUCH better to me. And, the head + cab cost about the same as the GK by itself. I put the head in a roller rack and I can still move everything to the car in one trip without strain. The Tour 450 delivers 300w into 8 ohms, meaning I can now use the same setup when rehearsing and for small to mid-size gigs. I left the GK at church for practices and I don't miss it too much.

    Awesome Sound, Worth It!

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150S-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

I just purchased the extension cab for this unit. I am very pleased with the sounds that I am able to get from the combo. Crystal clear sound, booming lows, very compact and very sturdy. Couldn't be happier!
