Fender

A decades-long favorite of bassists AND guitarists.

The straightforward Fender 59 Bassman outperforms most of the fancy amps on the market today. In the 1950s, the Bassman was perfect for amplifying that new invention, the Fender Precision Bass. This 50W rig allowed the bass to hold its own onstage with drums, electric guitars, and miked piano, the common instrumentation of the day. Over the years, it also won the hearts of guitarists who, after experimenting with all kinds of preamps and effects racks, found its simplicity, great tone, excellent dispersion, and touch-sensitive dynamics a true pleasure. This reissue is true to the original while adding several enhancements: U.S.-made GT-6L6 output tubes, improved 12AX7 preamp tubes, and an internal bias pot, making it easier to experiment with other output tubes. It also features a genuine lacquered tweed covering, solid finger-jointed pine cabinet, and an original-spec 4AR4 rectifier tube for natural compression when you play hard. Includes fitted cover.

Peace of Mind

By Roger Hausmann

from Tennessee

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '59 Bassman LTD 4X10 Guitar Combo:

The '59 Bassman LTD is one of Leo Fender's masterpieces, just like the Strat and the Telecaster. This 4x10 combo is not only loud enough for the stage, but also the real thing for authentic tone, especially when it's slightly overdriven. Oh yes, it doesn't come with reverb, digital effects, etc. Those things are icing on the cake and the amp works well with all kinds of pedals. The looks are killer and if you're not absolutely happy with your sound, just swap the pre-amp tubes, the power tubes, the speakers...I have done all that only to discover that the original design is hard to beat. Thousands of guitarists all over the world built their careers on this workhorse. One drawback: It's not a Metal monster- you need to look elsewhere for that kind of thing. But if you're into Classic Rock, Blues, Country and whatever comes in- between, the '59 Bassman will be your friend forever.

Amp worth every penny, rubel, euro

By Roger Hausmann

from Tennessee

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '59 Bassman LTD 4X10 Guitar Combo:

If you're into Blues, country, rock, you need to dump the wanna-be amps and play the real thing for a day - you'll be hooked. You got a strat or tele? You will flip over the sounds that this amp coaxes out of your axe - it's unreal. The throaty, gutsy bass coupled with the glassy highs come at you out of four 10" speakers -what a delight to play "Sultans of Swing" at full throttle. I haven't had a chance to gig with it, but let this be a warning: it can be loud if you want it to be. In general: all controls make sense and are intuitive and precise, no fluff. This amp should be called "an instrument", because of its fine musical qualities and responsiveness. It just loves pedals of all kinds: overdrives, reverbs; the 59 Bassman LTD brings out the best of my pedals and man, am I ever motivated! Just what I needed...

I bought this amp by accident and I brought it to my home and turned on. I Rolled volume near at middle and I was like wow!! This is it and I connect bright channel one and normal two together and put my guitar input normal channel one. Overdrive was great and tone was perfect.

Bassman amps rock for guitars!

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '59 Bassman LTD 4X10 Guitar Combo:

I owned an early 50's bassman amp. It was so old, the cabinet came apart. The chassis was great, so I made a cabinet for it out of good quality wood. I bought it off a good friend who needed quick cash, but I had been begging him to sell it to me because it was the king of crunch at the time, and with an original Gibson Melody Maker, the crunch and sustain was unreal, and the controllable sweet howling feedback was easily achieved with a good guitar. My '61 Les Paul Special kept it just under nuclear when the vol. was set to 9. I used the amp for 20 years. Marshall and Vox learned a lot from this amp!

A+ tone monster , best of the best

By Rick-T13WP

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '59 Bassman LTD 4X10 Guitar Combo:

I tried everything out there looking for the perfect tone. I spent over 20 years looking studio quality tube tone but when I plugged into this amp for the first time I couldn't believe that they made this amp sound like this amp in 1959!!!! WOW!!!!!!! and I heard that sound now I'm a believer. So shop around a little so you know what I mean then try this you'll be boggled like I was. Here's the cold hard truth you must have an amp sound that is what you want before you add any effects otherwise you'll never be satisfied. I love my effects pedal in this amp but I never liked it before so start with the proper amp for your sound. This amp will sound like your guitar so quality of the instrument plays a big factor on this amp. This amp sounds the best with fender Strats and Tele's for blues classic rock and country. The channel blending feature with a patch cable will let you daily in your perfect tone and having an effect pedal like my boss gt6 will let you turn the amp up and use the volume on the pedal to get that cranked tone at lower volumes. Here is another kicker I play a Taylor 714 ce limited acoustic and its the bomb on this amp playing fingerstyle with the touch sensitive dynamics is killer. Never figure it for an acoustic amp but you get Doyle Dykes type tone. I will never own any other amp period.

mixed bag for me

By dru

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '59 Bassman LTD 4X10 Guitar Combo:

This is an amazing amp for rock guitar. The overdrive is amazing, but it starts to overdrive at around 4 volume. I wish it started to break up a bit later. It doesn't have that Fender wall of clean, and doesn't sound like the Twin's and Deluxe Reverbs do cause it distorts too early. But for that Holy Grail, pure-tube, overdrive... this is it!

Wow!

By Darklord-lPQus

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '59 Bassman LTD 4X10 Guitar Combo:

This amp has the best tone of any guitar amp available. I felt that my classic Strat would be a good match for this and it didnt let me down. Some amps have a shrill thin tone that doesnt measure up to this tube powered beauty. The Brits even ripped-off these electronics to build their amps; its just that good. The 4 10s and the tube power deliver that fat sound we all love to hear. The only amps I would stack up next to this is the classic Fender Twin Reverb and the Fender Vibro Verb with the 15 speaker. There is no reverb tank on this. I recommend using Dan Andertons unique twin spring tank reverb with this amp. The results give you that fat, reverby, Ventures sound for those of us who bow to the God of Surf!

"The Holy Grail"

By Ed Mili

from Baltimore, Maryland

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '59 Bassman LTD 4X10 Guitar Combo:

This review is easy. If you're a serious professional player and TONE is everything to you, then this amp will end your search forever. PERIOD! Without a doubt, it has the very best touch dynamics, punch and the most incredible pure overdriven sound of any amp on the market today. It hasn't changed significantly over the last 45 years for no reason. Why mess with perfection. This amp is what all other tube amps use as there foundation circuit wise. What do you think Jim Marshall used to build the first " Plexi's" with? Nothing moves "air" like the 4 10's in this beast and the 5F6A circuit is the most legendary tube amp circuit of all time. If you want your style and instrument to sing and your guitar's voice to really come through, then this is your only true choice, PERIOD!
