Comments about Fender Super-Sonic 22 22W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
I've owned this amp for three months and like it even better now that I did when I bought it. I am happy to have bought a product that exceeds my high expectations.
Fender has finally come up with an amp that can do everything I want an amp to do, in a package that is light enough (40 pounds) to carry without assistance from a crane or a fork lift. The clean channel sounds nearly identical my Deluxe Reverb, and the burn channel makes this a much more versatile amp than the Deluxe. The burn channel produces distortion ranging from slightly overdriven to monstrous. Even at maximum burn-channel distortion, the every note is distinct and the sound is saturated and round rather than harsh or fizzy. Both the clean and burn channels give me the sounds I've been looking for, and the burn channel works just the way I want it to without me needing to put overdrive/distortion pedals between my guitar and the amp input.
The speaker Fender puts in this must be fairly sensitive/efficient, because the amp is surprisingly loud for its 22 watt rating. If I play through the clean channel at a volume where the sound is just starting to distort, my ears are ringing after fifteen or twenty minutes. In other words, it's LOUD. I've gigged with this amp, and it is powerful enough to keep up with a drummer in a good-sized room.
The build quality and attention to design detail are outstanding ... as you would expect for a 22 watt production amp this expensive. The amp's features and controls are simple and straight-forward, but don't limit the user at all. The four-button foot switch Fender includes with this amp allows a user to dramatically alter the character of the sound through the range of possibilities without touching the amp's front panel.
I love this amp. If it were damaged or stolen, I would buy another one immediately.
