Sounds Awesome!

By wastelandpress

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I went in and plugged this up and immediately was impressed. It sounded awesome. The world seemed new with this pedal and rightly so. My only complaint about this is that it doesn't have a noise gate, but then again most of them do not. Ran this through Marshall Head JVM210H and 1936 2x12 cabinet and was molten butter from there on out (I ran completely clean at 12 across). I still haven't tinkered around with sound options yet, except the top boost is completely unnecessary and gets in the whole "box full of bees" territory. However, an awesome pedal for an all tube amp and gives you awesome, clear crunch!

One of, if not THE best distortion pedals

By Aric-E56w1

from Hamilton, Ontario

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'll keep this short. The distortion sounds amazing and you can get many, many different sounds from this. Every increment you turn the dial makes a noticeable difference. This thing is well worth the money. If you are unsure about what you are looking for strongly consider this one. But as always, if possible, try one out or check out youtube videos first.

Metal Muff, not just for metal

By Jeff-L9oEI

from Spokane, Washington

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal has ended a 2 year search for a high gain pedal. I am not a metal player so I never really considered a metal pedal, not big on the scooped mids tone but I find it's fun to mess with from time to time. I currently use Barber LTD, Xotic BB and Lovepedal Purple-Plexi overdrives and have tried several other "high-end" boutique pedals. This is one is a find! Great saturated gain, super quiet, much quieter than I expected. But the thing that sold me was the active EQ. What a broad range of tonal possibilities especially in the midrange! Will definitely get you that 80's hair rock! I am finding that a very minor adjustment makes a big difference. If you're looking for a high gain pedal but are wanting to keep away from the "metal" sound, this one's worth checking out! Oh, it does metal very well too!

For bass player!

By Kinger

from Geneva, Switzerland

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Bass point of view: Yes I bought a metal muff for the bass and trust me I think this one of the best for metal! I tried a lot of other distortion for bass and it didn't have any charm, but this one is a real distortion sound and really customable! Trust me if you play metal on bass and you want a real great distortion, use this one Guitar point of view: This is also great! But be careful if you like shredding it isn't so good but for rythum guitar it blasts!

Tone Monster

By Jimmy B-whRnm

from Avon, OH

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Love it. This serves my needs perfectly. I am in a cover band playing everything from Classic Rock to Punk to Metal. I use this for the crunch and high singing leads. I use an overdrive pedal when playing most classic rock, but this pedal when I need tight punching distortion. I don't really like the top boost, because I can't find a sound with that I like. It always comes out a little shrill. This thing is built like a tank, so no worries when hitting the road. I have played all sorts of distortion and overdrive pedals. Hands down, this is my favorite for thrashing, metal chunk and searing solos. Grab an Blues Driver or Tube Screamer too, and you can have all bases covered.

Best Metal Distortion for the money

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Hands down this is the best Metal distortion pedal for the money. However, it's not much good for anything but metal. You can't get a classic rock sound out of this pedal. Turned the gain all the way down and you get close to Sabbath-like tone, all the way up and it's over the top heavy. The 3 band eq is very usable. Start with all three in their center detent and make minor adjustments from there. Pull out a hair of mid or add in a hair of bass and you can hear big differences in tone. Same thing with the top boost level. It is very sensitive and small tweaks of the control make big differences in sound.

AWESOME pedal

By victorious

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I LOVE this pedal. I play through all tube amp, use several different guitars, doesn't seem to matter which though. EMG's, dimarzios, duncans, whatever, this pedal has enough ability to tweak it with all the knobs that it will blow you away. It has perfect metal settings of course, hence the name..nuff said..Blues tones are awesome as well. Now, you stomp on the boost and lead playing just comes ALIVE! THis is the HOTTEST pedal in my board! Oh and mix it with your screamer for even more fun.

MUFF!

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

The metal muff is an awsome sounding pedal. You can play any type of rock to black/death metal. its made all of metal no plastic so its very durible. the only thing that sucks about it is the battery. you have to take the bottom panel off which is 4 screws. Other than that its VERY NICE! BUY IT!
