A huge array of whammy effects with MIDI control.

The performance and sound of the new DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control are reminiscent of the original red WH-1 Whammy. All the favorite whammy settings that guitar players covet are available again at the touch of a knob. Added is a new Dive Bomb effect, similar to that of a Floyd Rose whammy bar pushed all the way to the body of the guitar. Another new addition is a MIDI-in jack, allowing remote control of effects via MIDI devices. Both type and control are accomplished via MIDI program changes and CC messages respectively. Wet/Dry outputs are provided.

Double Whammy!

By Jimi Durso

from New York, NY

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

This is my favourite effect, due to it's versatility. I mostly use the fifths and octave functions to make my guitar sound not at all like a guitar, but more like those roland things King Crimson used in the 80s. I also dig the fact that the chorus width can be controlled using the pedal, so I can keep it subtle for chords but make it thicker when I solo. The only thing I dislike about this pedal is that I have to bend down to change patches. I prefered the Whammy 2 where there was a footswitch to access the various sounds, but I prefer this to the original Whammy, which had too many patches, most of which I didn't use.

The future sounds for rock music

By Andrew-Qv-mu

from Arnold, MO

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

I freakin love this pedal. Totally worth the price. The variety of sounds you can get out of this thing is incredible and just when I thought i was done. the 1 and 2 octave down simulates a bass guitar if I wanna play bass. I recommend it for all who love that Tom Morello/ dj sound.

Whammy Baby

By ZAK

from Australia MATE!

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

I use a lot of effex in my rig from wah to delay to flang and so fourth, but my favorite is my WHAMMY! I try not to overkill it at gigs but in rehearsals I cut sick with it. I say any guitarist with a passion such as mine, to make an audience spin out in what and how the hell your creating those sounds from a guitar should go invest in a DigiTech WHAMMY cause I know she'll always be in my set up!

great pedal.

By Nick-zeqtK

from U.S.A.

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

Please note that this is NOT a wah pedal. It doesn't even have the same effect at all. Wah pedals do not change the pitch of your guitar, they change the peak response of a filter in frequency, creating the "wah" sound. Think of the whammy pedal as bending the notes, only much more extensively, and being controlled by a pedal. A whammy pedal does not replace a wah pedal, because they are two completely different things. These are cool to use when playing/writing songs with loop samplers. You can create bass parts, and really make the song sound full/complete. Jack White uses this pedal extensively in the White Stripes. Not only in songs like Seven Nation Army, and Hardest Button to Button, but a lot in the live shows. He plays really cool solos with it's high octave feature. Very cool pedal.

great

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

I just recently blew all of my money on this for a RATM song. It is a great investment, many harmonizer settings and whammy pitch shifts. Its great to have your own unique sounds created with this pedal. Spend 30 minutes with this pedal and you will fall in love with it! Nothing else like it.

Used right, this thing squeals!

By Bruticus

from Central Texas

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

I originally bought this pedal when it first came out for a whopping $399 USD. My cousin took it overseas and tried to use it and fried it. So I recently bought another one. It's worth having if you know how to use it. This pedal, can and usually does eliminate the need for an extra guitarist with the harmonist effects! And man, do they sound good running thru a Digi MM. I don't lose any tone at all, despite the other reviews. It's really depends on where you put this pedal in your chain I guess. But its really worth it. I use the pitch shifts in conjunction with my Floyd Rose, and double the pitch bends! It'll make the dogs yelp I SWEAR. If you want to do duel guitars without the need for another guitar who is maybe not up to your level, buy this pedal. Buy two! It's worth it for all genres of music, not just metal!

Not a Wah Pedal!

By Gear head

from Denver

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

First of all, anyone who plays this thing and thinks it is a wah pedal is joking I hope. This is a very cool effect to use if you are into trippy type craziness. If you are contemplating buying the BOSS Pitchshifter pedal, this is the same thing, but you can at least bypass the effect and retain the tone of your guitar. The BOSS pedal just ruins the tone. I like to play this thing through a delay, always. I wish the pedal was on the right side. Overall, a very unique sound. If you're looking for an octaver pedal this will do as well.

Will test your creativity

By Obsolipsist

from Chicago

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

I bought one as a gift for an aspiring young band leader (yes, some Rage influence, but much more) though I thought it was just a gimmick. He proved me wrong on the strength of his good judgment; if you've got the 'aural vision' this baby will really help you go places, if not it's just a stupid toy.Beware, after hard, but not abusive, action for only a year, it would no longer 'zero' back to the fundamental, with the pedal pushed back all the way 'off'. It's driving us nuts - been to authorized service 3 times, including once shipped back to Digitech factory, and it's not fixed yet. How can that be? It's unusable now - I'm tearing it open to see if it's just the translucent wiper thingy attached to the pedal being scratched up, or... overheating opti-sensor? I'm no electronics engineer, but it's easy to tell they never even opened the case. This is kinda tragic ($-wise), because there are some gorgeous songs dependent in one way or another on this thing. The problem is it's such a good pedal I may just go buy another - and pay for a replacement warranty. A 6 star tool in the right hands, 1 star for the problems we're having. Math major that I am, I'll give it 4 stars; to a good songwriter with good gigs it's worth $200 a year.

Interesting..and growing on me.

By cooper

Comments about DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control:

I bought this on a whim. I listen to a lot of "Jam bands"...especially Phish. Trey Anastasio, guitarist of Phish, has done many a sweet thing with his Whammy II. So I picked this up. It comes very nice in a long jam--out of no where, I can make the jam very spacey..or crunchy/evil, or watery. I like the pedal alot, but it isn't for someone who just wants to have a wah pedal. Buy a Dunlop or Vox. This is for much more than that (although it works as a wah OK). Anyway, 9/10 stars. Only let down is the way it's set up. My guitar cable gets in the way alot because of this thing.
