Comments about DigiTech RP255 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I was initially skeptical as I already own RP55. Well, I wasn't fooled by RP55, but I didn't want this unit to change the momentum DigiTech was bringing to the table. For the money, this unit brings an aweful lot to the variety of musical styles that exist today. To help simplify I shall point out features in the format of pluses and minuses; Pluses: Vast amount of options for the money; TwinReverb or Fender Spring Reverb (soap bubbles); Compressor helps DigiTech sound like Boss; Guitar to Bass (P bass, use Mark2C for J bass); Boteak makes strat sound darker to the likes of Les Paul; With this I don't have to buy P bass, J bass, nor Les Paul; not to mention the $700 Fender tube reverb unit; but that doesn't alway stop me, being an American consumer and all. Minuses: After about 70 to 80 consecutive preset changes, the RP255 kind of was flaking out; no worry however, after unplugging, the unit restored distortion tone. 60 user presets is not much after taking 24 amps, 13 pedals, a handful of tone library settings into designated presets. Boss pedals are configured to sound poorly compared to DigiTech pedals, go figure. TS9 and TS808 sounded the same. I use a headphone amp like a cheap Fiios to help boost the output level. User interface could be more competitive compared to Boss ME-25. Does not run on battery; but battery tends to reduce signal processing capability. Final note: Not having had first hand experience with each of the original amps and pedals, I have to say that many of the models sounded good without making the comparison analysis a factor. Furthermore the input A/D seems to keep my stock and budget pickups sounding good without muddiness; much better than RP55. My guitar's budget pickups sounded muddy through the neck position on an MXR Distortion III pedal. By the way Boutique or Boteak sounds very close to MXR Distortion III. My presets are 7 favorite factory presets, 13 pedals, 24 amps, and finally 16 combination of Library Tones and factory presets. I learned how to get different tones by looking at the settings of the Tone Library and factory presets. Disclaimer: I have not used the USB port.

I have owned this effects-processor for about 2 weeks or so, and I loves it! It comes with ALOT of useable amps,effects,and presets. And they are pretty easy to tweak, once you get the hang of it. The unit is solidly constructed, and I expect it to last many years. The price is a great bargain. And I look foward to recording some awesome new songs with this rig very soon. DO NOT Hesistate to buy it! You'll be glad you did!

Being a beginning player coming from a Behringer V-Amp, I was blown away by the RP255. No more noise, no effects changing on their own, but most of all, my guitar (Ibanez RG370DX) sounds way better - like a new guitar. The effects sound really good and are easier to configure, and this unit has a built-in drum machine, aux-in, looper, and USB-port that allows you to backup presets and record off the unit. It also comes bundled with recording software. Finally, the construction of the RP255 is very solid.
