Coveted overdrive sounds in a fab little pedal.

Danelectro puts the D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal in your hands without wiping out your financial portfolio. History was made in 1975 when a mom-and-pop store in California commissioned the production of just 200 of what is perhaps the best guitar overdrive effect ever. Unlike any other effects unit, that pedal authentically simulated the breakup that occurs when a tube amp is run at full volume. You will occasionally see an original in the stage rig of a major artist. IF you could find an original offered for sale, you should probably sit down before inquiring about the price . . . The Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive pedal features Level, Tone, and O.D. controls.

Features

  • Realistic tube overdrive
  • Responsive
  • Versatile

Seriously saturated tube amp tone in a sweet Dano box. How can you go wrong? Order the D-2 today!

Surprisingly good!

By Lou Axt

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Danelectro Fab Overdrive adds great versatility to my low-power tube amp. Perfect for puching the amp into saturation, this pedal can also bring out raunchiness when that is what you are looking for. I am amazed at how well this pedal works to increase the input level to the amp just for clarity when paired with low-output pickups. If only it had a true-bypass switch. Then again this stompbox is so inexpensive, I guess Danelectro had to leave something out!

Great low-cost pedal

By KRKB

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal consists of three knobs: Overdrive, Tone, and Level. Nothing fancy, but you can get from bright and warm overdrive to gritty and downright dirty crunch overdrive from this little thing. I run it through a Marshall amp with either my SG or my hollowbody AlleyKat, and i can get the sounds I'm looking for reminiscent of a much more expensive vintage tube amp. For anyone looking for a good vintage break-up/fuzz tone with some varying depths, this is a great pedal (esp. for dirty bluesy rock from Hendrix to Zeppelin style). You really can't beat the price tag.

Wow! major improvement !!

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal, not expecting alot for the meager price. I plugged it into my old Carvin SV-125 solid state amp,and was blown away. This thind can really scream. I play an old Telecaster, and this thing really drives my amp. you can't find a better basic overdrive at 3 times the cost of this jewel. It does eat batteries if you go that route, but I am using a d.c. power supply. Buy this thing, and I guarantee you will be amazed. For the price of a good set of strings it can't be beat.

Danelectro FAB Overdrive

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

A very nice overdrive for the price. Everyone has their own tastes in overdrive/distortion, however I think it is just as good as many expensive boutique overdrive pedals. Unless you really abuse stuff, I would not worry about the plastic housing. It is very thick. It really could be called a distortion pedal as well since it gets very crunchy when you increase the gain.

Good pedal, Better price

By Andrew Kesterson

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This little pedal is actually quite impressive. You can dial it into just about any form of tube breakup or old overdrive - I can get jimmy-style fuzz out of it, to bluesy crackle, to a nice heavy rock crunch. You're not gonna get super-heavy metal distortion out of it, but it's not a distortion pedal. It also doesn't work as well as one might hope if you put it in your effects loop after your gain channel's already done with your signal. Oh, and it also makes a DANDY boost if you dime out the level, and back off the tone/OD. Overall it's a great pedal for the price, and I don't regret buying it at all. The only thing I will say is that you NEED an AC adapter with any of these danelectro fab pedals, they EAT batteries.

great OD pedal

By Butch

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a fantastic pedal for the money. Three knobs: overdrive; tone; level. The first is roughly equivalent (roughly) to the volume knob on a tube amp, governing the amount of overdrive. Tone cuts from bright and harsh to warm. It does not have as much cut as a guitar or amp tone control. Level is the total output volume. This is very useful for home practicing.I now have a tube amp and know that this pedal does a good job of producing smooth tube-like overdrive and distortion. Of course nothing can create the true richness of tubes through a good speaker, but this pedal rocks. One thing: always, ALWAYS unplug your cable from the IN jack--you will drain your battery overnight. Next morning you have a very nasty sound.

Very good pedal for the price

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this based on the many 5-star reviews. I would say this is a very good overdrive for the price. It misses the tube sound however - that is nearly impossible to get with solid state. Still this is a good sounding pedal - better than the circuit that is in my practice amp (also solid state).I reserve 5 stars for the best putting this one at 4 to 4.5. I would replace it if I lost it and the fun part is I can share it with other musicians and not worry about the cost if it breaks. Some concern about the plastic construction.

Amazing!

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is the bang for the buck, and more! Jimmy Page and Alvin Lee's jaws would drop to the ground if they heard the sound, of this small, inexpensive pedal...what a pedal.

you gotta get one

By jbob

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this little dude because it is cheap, and a Dano...two things I am fond of in a pedal, for some reason. I didn't have any specific plans for this when I got, but it is very useful for many things. I have used w/ my LP and a cheapo chorus with great results. I have used w/ my J-bass, and Stingray (5), and I was very impressed. It's amazing this little box can cover such a wide range with just 3 knobs. I have also run my drum machine through for a NIN, Skillet kind of sound....this is very cool. You can make it sound real gritty, and you can get a real smooth sound out of it. So, I just don't think you can go wrong, here. Buy expensive stuff if you have to. But if you are secure enough w/ yourself, buy this one. If you do spend the $ on this, and decide you don't like it, make sure you keep the box and give it as a Christmas gift...
