Fantastic tone.

The Crate FlexWave FW65 is a mid-sized stage/rehearsal guitar combo amp that uses the FlexWave Evolution 5 preamp and Sequential Cascading Gain technology to pump 65 watts of rich, articulate tone through a 12" speaker. Variable 3-channel operation lets you switch between clean, dirty, and saturated channels with the included remote footswitch. And Digital Signal Processing (DSP) effects add separate delay, modulation, and reverb to your signal. Crate's Channel Tracking automatically stores your DSP settings, so the amp recalls which effect is assigned to each channel when you switch between them. Develop your own sound by tweaking the onboard 3-band EQ. The solo channel features Crate's proprietary Shape Control circuit for crafting dynamic custom lead tones. A built-in tuner ensures that you're constantly in tune.

Decent Amp

Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW65 65W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp brand new because I wanted something better than the small amp I normally practiced with. It's a typical solid state amp with lots of the features found on other amps of this type. The first amp I got was defective out of the box. The DSP setting for delay (long) was not able to be turned off, so you could never use anything other than the long delay setting. The store swapped it out immediately (after trying it out and confirming it was defective) for another one which worked perfectly......at first. Now this amp has the DSP setting stuck on flanger and won't come off. Not necessarily bad if you like the sound, though. So in both cases the digital effects (quality) is suspect. In addition, this amp is not truly a "modeling" amp(as it is often sold) because it provides "clean" which sounds very nice, very bright, and has a very good quality, "overdrive" which is a generic overdrive sound with no character and not much adjustment, and "high gain" which is so wild it's almost unbearable. There really are no other sounds. I borrowed a friend's Boss ME-25 pedal and played through the clean channel and the sounds were absolutely amazing coming from this amp. On the plus side, the amp has phenomenal power and punch, it carries low tones as well as high tones extremely well, and with a good pedal I feel you could use this amp to perform in small clubs if you needed to. This amp will carry when turned up loud..........period. And the built-in tuner is convenient for "rough tuning" if you just wanted to quick check your axe here and there. It's not a precision tuner but it gets you in the ballpark and for a small led type thing.......it actually works okay. The knobs are decent quality and the amp looks like a much more expensive amp. Realistically, for what you pay you get A LOT of amp here. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that in my case the DSP stuff hasn't functioned well, so I wonder about the quality of the electronics in these. I contacted Crate directly and they are very helpful, the warranty is great on these, just not sure if I want to take the time to send it to one of their repair centers........because currently I use it every day and personally I kinda like the flanger. If you buy this amp and you want a lot of neat sounds, I recommend you also purchase a multiple effects box..........and for what you spend on this, you probably could.

Nice Amp

Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW65 65W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a descent amp!! Very good for medium size gigs. Not too big, but delivers 65 watts of pure power. The built in tuner is not so great but does the job. I really like the build in effects loop also. I connect my TC G-Sharp and it sounds fantastic !!! The distortions are pretty good too. I am happy with the purchase.

Power for Price

Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW65 65W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

well i'll just keep this simple. I wanted a basic amp just to run when I wasnt in the studio or at a show. The design is pretty good...your regular solid state. The specs that crate supplies are dead on and there's no false advertising here. The amp itself does a pretty nice job at cleans with decent enough effects to get a good crisp tone. The speaker is brilliantly loud and for most instances you wont need to raise the volume more than half. There's a nice rich depth and with enough tweaking you can achieve a great tonal balance. The overdrive and high gain tones on this are good enough for most players although i would recommend using your favorite stompbox over the clean channel if you want more devilish distortion. Thats for you my fellow death metal players. Dont buy this expecting a Krank amp tone. Still, I'll give it a 5 star rating because all in all, for the price, you'd be a real idiot to want more. You're gonna have a lotta fun with this one if you buy it....trust me.

You will love this amp

Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW65 65W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

If you are looking at this amp, buy it! I've had it for about 5 months and it is outstanding! The clean channel is almost acoustic, the overdrive is outstanding for punk or alternative. I'm a metalhead and the high gain is good, but it isn't enough for more extreme hardcore Job for a Cowboy-type metal. I use it for playing in church (one which is quite big, too) and it was perfect, both tone and volume. It is VERY loud, almost as loud as a stack, I never found my self having to turn it up louder than 1/3 of its volume. if you are in a huge band and need more power, it can be hooked up to a cab. The tuner is helpful too. GREAT AMP!!!
