Comments about Boss SYB-5 Bass Synthesizer:
First off, a lot of people say the tracking is really bad, while I had a different experience. The tracking is no problem at all if you have clean playing, if you do not then it may cause some trouble for you. It works best with single notes, and not chords, but on certain settings you can play some chords, but not much, otherwise it will starting messing up and the tracking gets off. It has so many different settings and sounds on here you can find one to use for your type of playing. From pop to rock or metal, this pedal can be used for so much. I mostly use it on guitar and it works great clean or with distortion, or some flanger. I would suggest getting an expression pedal (M Audio EXP works great with it), it can really add to the sound. The Expression pedal creates a different dynamic range, sorta like a Dunlop Cry Baby. Once you take the patience to learn all the settings you will have great fun and use with the pedal. It really adds to riffs and adds to the sound. Also it does not eliminate any of your sound, as I know some pedals can. The hold feature is nothing really to write home about. It's great maybe for playing a riff over a note, but you have to have an effect on it for the hold to work. Overall, I'd say this pedal is a great addition to any guitarist or bassists pedalboard. Not to mention the nice paint job Boss gave this pedal. And as always, try before you buy.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
