This pedal is so amazingly versatile that if you want to play blues, you need this pedal. If you want to play rock, you need this pedal. I think you get the picture. Bottom line, everybody needs this pedal to add to their sonic capabilities on stage or in the studio.

I brought this pedal to a jam session when I first bought it & my friends laughed at me. Said it was weak and I had waisted my money. Anyway this isn't going to sound like a metal zone or a boss distortion. But if you want an added kick that may not be recognized there's no other pedal to buy. I hear a lot of praise about Ibanez tube screamer's but they're twice the price. I would like to try the maxon overdrive & this one head to head. But whichever one is better I can say this is a good pedal!

Had one of these of and on since 1987/88. Best of the basics. Nearly indestructible and perfect for Status Quo to Stevie Ray to JC Superstar. Unless it's not what you like, then you will buy something shinier. Believe me, in the right hans (feet) this is plenty shiny, Captain.

    A must-have for the price!

Comments about Boss SUPER OverDrive SD-1 Pedal:

This pedal will do just about anything. Back off the drive and get a great blusey, tube-driver type sound. Crank it up and get that old-school british crunch...it will do anything (short of face-melting metal distortion, but if that's your thing, you're probably not even looking at this pedal). I have friends with Tube Drivers and Keeley modded Blues Drivers, and, while they have great tone, this thing is way more versatile...and it's a fraction of the price! Go for it...you won't be sorry.

Good petal not for heavy music

Comments about Boss SUPER OverDrive SD-1 Pedal:

I got this pedal 2 weeks ago. and i had some problems in the begining. i got a power adapter at wal mart that waz the all in one deal. and there waz a really bad buzz so i called boss up and they said i had a bad cable and i waz going to order one. but i wanted to make sure tht waz the problem. so i put the battrie that they gave me in the sd-1 and then there waz no buzzing. so i called boss back up and there said theres would not make any sound so i ordered that. BUT THIS IS NOT A METAL PEDAL this is more over a warm overdrive fell like lighter stuff. but i love it. GET THIS PEDAL. its a good deal for the cash. i waz going to get the tube screammer but did not want to spend the $$. so i went with this and love it.

    Review of Mighty Fine

    By N

Comments about Boss SUPER OverDrive SD-1 Pedal:

I've owned this pedal for about a year. This things is amazing. If you want rock play on the the clean with this thing hooked up as well. If you want more distortion. Hook this thing up while setting the amp settings to minimal Gain or Drive settings and let the OD-1 do the rest. This pedal provides great tones, and scoarching leads. With a wah, you can achieve some great crying and screaming sounds when this thing is modifying you gain channel. In addition, I've achieve Zakk Wylde's done, that includes the Super Chorus by Boss. I've achieved Judas Priest from the Screaming for Vengance album using this baby on the clean channel. This thing offers a variety of sounds and tones, and brightens up your sounds that some amps just couldn't do. This is a real great buy, I love how boss prolong battery life in their gear :). 2 thumbs up!

    Boom Shakalaka

    By Brian Vingh

    from Anchorage, Alaska

Comments about Boss SUPER OverDrive SD-1 Pedal:

I love this little yellow box. I mainly use it as a boost for solos, it sounds great!! I keep the tone knob down so that it doesn't color my tone too much and the boost that I get is glorious! I have tried to use it for my gain sounds, but I like the overdrive that my amp gives me already. As a rhythm sound it sounds very full and crunchy, a very smooth overdrive. I would recommend it for people who want a classic rock sound. And definitely for people who want a natural solo boost.

Quality/Durable Pedal for a low price

    By Andrew--CbDg

Comments about Boss SUPER OverDrive SD-1 Pedal:

You can't go wrong with this pedal. Play any kind of music from Blues or Country to Hard Rock or Punk. I wouldn't recommend this pedal for metal though. This pedal is almost indestructible since it is made by Boss and there isn't much hum or feedback from the unit.
