A very essential effect is reverb, and BOSS has done more than a good job of it. If I wanted a more specialized reverb effect for my guitar or keyboard, this would be the first thing to come to mind. The sound quality is superb! It is very haunting as well. This pedal is not any kind of reverb, but is very versatile in its class of effects. In the effect of REVERB alone, one must consider the attack, decay rate and time in which the sound reverberation is cutting off or fading out. You can help control those time and level adjustments to add a well-defined reverb that will truly give your guitar or keyboard sounds a stellar expression. I have read on the Roland USA website that this particular BOSS Reverb pedal can also be used for a good reverb source for your keyboard, especially the Fantom X with its dedicated reverb system. Now just imagine much more so the reverb expression you'll get when you combine the BOSS' reverb effect with the FantomX's reverb effect. Whoah! Super interstellar, intergalactic deep space!

I've always been use to using my amp's spring reverb. It's great and everything but it always kept me grounded, and I'm the kind of guitarist that likes the sound to float into outer space. I went pedal hunting to catch me an RV-3 as I love the added delay that Boss had stuck to the reverb (another one of Boss's great inventions). Well as things go, they didn't have one. BUT they did have the NEW RV-5 instead. I thought it would just be exactly like my amp's reverb. Low and behold, this took a Boss Ph-2 Phaser from ground level to shooting through the stratosphere. The new modes of gate and modulation can enhance any chorus, flange, or phaser signal from being your sterile modulation to warm, buttery and completely off the face of the earth. With many advantages comes a disadvantage. In particular, beware this little stomp-box's ability to turn your crunchy distortion into a rage of slurry gain. But to stop this... JUST TURN IT OFF WHEN YOUR USING YOUR DISTORTION OR OVERDRIVE! Overall, this pedal is simply amazing, Boss have once again made another stellar effort to give us effects.
