This pedal is simply one of the best compressor pedals I've ever tried. For more possibilities and sound quality, I'd prefer a Rack (they're too expensive, it's true). But in pedals area, I have no doubt. It's a little noisy when the sustain is too high, but it's almost 100% reductible with a Noise Supressor pedal (and, of course, a good guitar, a good amp and quality cables).

I was told that this pedal rocks.. It rocks ok if you can stand the noise any sustain gives. Best used to boost other Bass pedals. Found other brands better.

Great Pedal, Even better if modded

Comments about Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer Pedal:

This pedal is amazing for its size. If you choose to mod the pedal (i did mine myself with Monte-Allums' mods) the pedal is very clear and silent. Without the mod the pedal is quite noisy and a little bland sounding. One of my most used pedals, the sound is just awesome, and very portable too. you get great sound without it taking a lot of room on your board like other pedals, you won't regret it

AWESOME Compressor!!!

By Eric-qwy_l

Comments about Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer Pedal:

I LOVE this compressor! With the four knobs you can dial in any sound you want. It works silently with all other effects and enhances them all. I've played through a friends set-up with a Dynacomp and that thing caused all sorts of problems with his overdrive. I've also played through a Keeley, and - in my opinion - this thing can hold it's own next to that $200 pedal. Bottom line, it's awesome...you'll love it!

Comments about Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer Pedal:

I just got this peddle, after months of searching, and its perfect.I have a deluxe reverb and for this amp to start having monster tone, you have to be on at least 5.many times we cant get that loud. I use the cs-3 full time for "7" tone at "4".highly recommend

A Must Have

By Andrew-V7Xvw

Comments about Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer Pedal:

The controls give you exactly what's shown, and couldn't be easier to use. Built with Boss quality and durability, and has never let me down. Despite the fact you will get a lot of noise with low-end guitars/amps running through this with and gain/distortion, that can be reduced by lowering sustain, still giving you total control over the level (volume), Tone, and attack.

Hard to work with, but worth it

By Mike-XmLqO

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer Pedal:

While the controls do take a while to dial to your preference, it's well worth the time. I thought the sound of a heavily overdriven amp had a cool sustained sound (ie: at the end of a song), but wait till you hear it with some real sustain. It's real strength is in leads though. With a decently distorted sound, your notes can be held for at least 50% longer: something very worthwhile in a sweet solo. Now, if you don't play solos, I really don't recommend you waste your money on this. But if you do, you won't go back to playing a solo without it.It does of course have its flaws. In addition to it being somewhat hard to figure out (the manual uses sound jargon that isn't always explained well), it also tends to get a bit noisy. With the sustain up, you'll hear a fairly noticeable pick-scraping sound when you move down the neck if you're not careful. All in all, it's a great pedal if you know how to use it. And it's a BOSS, so you get the awesome durability and quality. And it gets about 24 hours per 9v battery, so the average Joe won't replace batteries too often.

If You Own A Rickenbacker 360/12VP..

By Mr. Rickenbacker

from Muskegon, MI. USA

Comments about Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer Pedal:

If you own a Rickenbacker 360/12VP 12 string guitar, then this is the stomp box for you. My settings for this pedal for beautiful sustain on my Ric 360/12VP 12 string guitar are simply this; Level, Tone, Attack, are all set at 12 o'clock high. My Sustain setting is set at exactly 3 o'clock. My Rickenbacker sings at these settings. It's not exactly rocket science here for those of you who just can't seem to get it to sound the way they want it to. READ THE MANUAL! Works great on my Martin 12 string guitars as well. I highly recommend this pedal as long as you are literate and patient enough to sit down and read the manual.

Lean and Mean

By G-VB39Z

Comments about Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer Pedal:

Forget the distortion pedals. I know many people who have spent thousands of dollars on AMPs and effects and still don't get the sound they want.I have used only 2 pedals for the last 12 years. The BOSS EQ and the BOSS C/S pedal. I run a JCM900 and with those pedals I am able to get the gnarliest distortion and the hottest lead tone of any rig. This pedal combination brings out the truest tone from your AMP, instead of a nasty processed sound of an effect. I would recommend to anyone trying to get the most true tone out of an AMP to throw the distortion processors out and try this. You will be amazed.
