Not tight

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I play in a local band and sometimes my fellow bassist from the band we play with a lot lets me use it. Now when I use it my lows are waaay to low and he has the best Ampeg head out there and it just wont tighten up. I'd rather use my 4x10 Hartke. Even with a very springy bass like a music man it will still distort.

If their's something better, only God has it.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I've come to only love this amp and this amp alone. I played it once and it's had me ever since. It may be a little big but it's so worth it. And it doesn't take damage like some amps I've used and abused.

renowned Ampeg quality

By Matt-wgMEu

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I have used numerous cabs and amps over my years of playing bass (currently I am running an SVT4pro head with two custom built cabs: a 4x10 and a 1x15). The Ampeg 8x10 is one of the best 8x10's out there, and after reading the last review I knew something had to be said. For everyone out there who doesn't understand how to properly mate amps and cabs/speakers: when putting together an amp/cab combo, you have to make sure that the amp and the cab have power ratings that are very close to one another. When you use an underpowered amp to run a cab or speaker the amp sends a distorted signal to the cabinet speakers, resulted in abysmal sound quality (distortion/fuzz) and blown out speakers. THIS CABINET (or any 800 watt rated cabinet for that matter) WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY IF YOU POWER IT WITH 20 OR 150-200 WATTS! Please do not do this and then write a review about it, as that is helpful to no one. This cab is of excellent quality: it's extremely tough, roadworthy, and will kick out some serious, ballsy bass tones when used properly. Try one and see for yourself.

Good purchase, good workout.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I bought this cab and hooked it up to my 3pro and it's pretty sick. Good tone with the correct eq settings. Now I can get the workout done at the gig moving this load.

great

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

My first experience with the SVT world was in 1981, before Eden, EA, Hartke, etc. were even around. I knew this was the bad boy of bass amps, so I bought it. At the time I was playing in a full time club rock band and this was perfect for everything we did. Most of what we did had the bass track recorded on this amp! It sings out warm and strong, and tubes aside, it cuts through the mix as well. Nothing else like it and I have played them all. If you can handle the size and weight, it is the only amp to buy. I can handle it and I'm 51 years old. It's a great semi-portable design, so no worries. Tilt it back on the wheels and you're good to go.

One killer cabinet!

By Travis-c-bBU

from Fresno, CA.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I have one of these, and this thing can sure take a beating! It's the perfect rock/metal cabinet out there, with the DEEP lows, and nice highs, this cabinet does the job. This is one sick cab!

Rocks

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I play punk music. This cabinet, paired with an Ampeg 1200 watt head is the best you can get. Nothing compares to it in my opinion. This cabinet rocks when used with a Fender or Ernie Ball bass. Overall it is a great cabinet. I use it for all of my shows and you should too. I worked a graveyard shift at a liquor company all summer so I could buy this. It's a little pricey but its totally worth it.
