hearing is believing

Comments about Ampeg SVT-610HLF Bass Cabinet:

The Ampeg SVT-610 HLF is not like most cabinets: for its size it has seriously massive sound, and its sound itself is incredible broad in versatility, from seriously floorshaking low frequencies (thanks to the bottom bass reflex compartment run with the two bottom woofers) to penetrating punchy mid-high frequencies (thanks to the other 4 isolated bass elements and the high frequency horn).I run this cab with an SVT3 Pro Amp head and play an Ibanez K5 bass guitar, and the sound really makes me smile: the size of the cabinet itself provides you that incredibly crude sound most bassists crave for. The size is also fairly practical: high enough to roll it back and forth without bending over and only slight weight and price difference when compared to the SVT-410 HLF. and no need to worry about volume and frequency: I still haven't tried full bass because I really don't dare to bring down my house :P

What you need.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-610HLF Bass Cabinet:

I use this by itself and sometimes coupled with an Ampeg 1x15 and run it with my svt350. The sound out of it is amazing. It 's uber versatile. It can be warm and rich, bright and loud, or nice and grungey. If I boost the bass, it can move your intestines. That's the best thing about this thing. It can be almost anything you want it to be. One flaw though. If you're going for a heavier sound, you may want a mesa. The tone for some of the harder stuff (metal or hardcore) is too defined to sound right. It could be the amp but I believe it has lots to do with the speaker too. But other than that, absolutely perfect.

Excellent Cabinet

Comments about Ampeg SVT-610HLF Bass Cabinet:

I play my 6x10 in my rock band and power it with an Ampeg SVT classic 300 watt. When I purchased this cabinet money was no object, and I compared it to both the Mesa Boogie 6x10 and the Ampeg 6x10. I liked the tightness, clarity, and warmth of this cabinet. Now I've been playing it for about a year and the wheels are starting to take a beating from being rolled down way too many steps, but I have absolutely no problems with the cab in general. I'm thinking about adding a couple of 15's or an 18 to get that extra "oomph" on the low end, but it's just as killer as the day I bought it.

sound cannot be beat, especially with a tube amp

Comments about Ampeg SVT-610HLF Bass Cabinet:

I've been playing for years and I was shocked at how well this cabinet sounds. It's also one of the sturdiest around. Something about the way the sound emanates, effortless and smooth but powerful. Not an industry standard for nothing. Just because it has wheels and a handle does not mean it will behave the way a handtruck behaves up and down stairs. You may need some help still.

Great bass cabinet

By buba

Comments about Ampeg SVT-610HLF Bass Cabinet:

This is a great cabinet. Great to gig with for rock, funk, and loud music. I have also used it with an acoustic electric turned way down and it sounds awesome. I normally gig the acoustic electric with either a 12" combo or a 15 combo. I have put it in the front seat of a small car, but usually put it in the back of a small pickup. I love the handle and sliders on the back. I also love the bottom ported 2-10's for lows. I don't use the "highs" much.

WOW

Comments about Ampeg SVT-610HLF Bass Cabinet:

I run this cab with an svt-4pro and it rocks! There is nothing on the planet that compares to the tone I get out of this thing. I work in a music store and try out tons of gear a week and I've yet to find anything that sounds nearly as good as this cab. For all you bass players that don't own a truck the 610 fits nicely in the back of a mid size sedan. Don't waste the cash on an 810, this cab will do the job just fine.

Tons of bass, a great buy.

By The Bassinator

Comments about Ampeg SVT-610HLF Bass Cabinet:

I just got this cabinet about a week ago, had a few problems at first with a bad cable, but nothing with the cab. What drew me to it was the huge sound coming from only 6-10s. I played an 8-10s with the exact same amp and settings and it didn't have nearly the room-filling sound that the SVT-610 did. It was then a decision on the 610 or a 410, and I was very pleased with the load of low end and bass tone it had. A great cabinet!
