Comments about Ampeg Pro Neo Series PN-210HLF 550W 2x10 Bass Speaker Cabinet:
This cab kicks for a little guy while still holding its clarity. I first used it for an outdoor gig at a car show and during set-up, one of the guys asked me: "Is that going to be loud enough?" I plugged in and was very impressed.
I'm feeding it 450 watts at 8 ohms with a Markbass MoMark 800 head. This Ampeg 2x10 has a tilt-back design so you can point it upwards like a floor monitor. I've never seen a bass cab that has the speaker inputs on the side but I ugess that's part of the tilt-back feature. Except, I can't tilt it back unless I put my amp head and tuner on the ground.
Honestly, at first I was weary about spending that kind of $ on a 2x10 when you can get a nice 4x10 or 2x12 for less. But for transportation reasons, I really needed a small cabinet that put out lots of sound.
My 2nd choice was teh Mesa 2x10 but it doesn't have a bottom slot-port like the Ampeg. I also looked into the new Fender Bassman Neo cabs but as of now (2012), they don't make a 2x10.
For a while, i was using an SWR Goliath 2x10. This Ampeg Pro Neo cab sounds way better.
In 20 years of playing music, I've never owned any Ampeg gear. I've always used SWR, GK and now Markbass. I was also weary of Ampeg now that it's 90%-made-in-China. But the Pro Neo series are American-made.
Overall, I can't speak for the Ampeg PN-1x15 or 4x10, but after 40+ years of making bass amps, you can't go bad with this little Ampeg cab. And it fits in the back seat of your ride!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
