I was used to using a 100 watt Peavey bass amp but whenever I turned it up loud, it started to buzz and you could barely hear any of the bass notes. But I had heard that Ampeg made the best bass amps around so I gave it a try. This Amp was incredible! You can turn it up and it still sounds great. The sound is so pure it's like no other. This amp is great for playing in small clubs or bars. I now know the only way to go is AMPEG!

Well for one - the sound is great, but Im surprised that no one has mentioned the annoying hiss sound from the tweeter all the BA115s have, even with vol knobs turned to zero. Second master vol doesnt do anything above 5 + a heavy "flumb" sound when ever you turn the amp of. Price in Europe round a 1000 dollars. I think that Ampeg should have done at better job on this amp. They owe that to their customers and to the Ampeg name !

Ampeg BA-115

By woodofwarwick

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

This little amp is fantasic. Nice mids and lows. I absolutely love this thing. Plenty of punch and plenty of volume. I use this primarly as a practice amp. I love the 5 different tone settings that are accessed via a dial on the control panel. I love the ability to plug in an external device to play along to such as an ipod or a computer etc. You can dial in nice deep lows and still get the nice crips tones needed for clear slap if that is your style. For the price it is a fantastic amp. The tilt back design that is built into the speaker cabinet is a great feature. The weight is a bit on the heavy side at around 62lbs but worth it when you hear the great sound this amp delivers. Highly recommended!!! 10 out of 10 for me.

Good deal

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

I've had mine since '02, and it hasn't let me down yet. Pros: nice warm sound, the preset selection make noticable tone differences with the turn of a switch, controls are easy to read, sounds louder than the listed 100W. Cons: awkward transporting with the top handle, tilt back design doesn't allow casters, when cranked the sound tends to lose the warmth and gets an overdriven type of sound. All in all, for the intimate gigs or recording, a great choice. Not the best at getting (and keeping) your sound while trying to cut through guitar stacks and heavy handed drummers. Of course you could always mic it up or run it direct in live situaions. In any event, it's a solid combo for a great price that gives a fair clean sound of your bass till it gets cranked above 8. Give it a try...!

another night, another story.

By Phil-iv6dF

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

After a year of constant use, this amp is still solid as a rock. Durable construction, easy to use. Simple controls (style/treble/mid/bass) located on top along with input and master volumes and a direct out. The power amp could definitely push the speaker a lot harder if it was more powerful and the tweeter does hiss but who cares when its cranked. The handle on top makes me worried but its still on there. The amp cant be expected to stand up against a Marshall stack, but it does hold up well with two fender deluxes. I purchased the BA115 Anniv., which adds a nice look to the amp (dark blue with silver grille) instead of the normal black. Simple, straight forward Ampeg tone. Can't be beat in its range.

It doesn't fart

By Keren Bronsen

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

Almost every, and I mean every big and little name brand combo amp I tried had that distorted, fart kind of sound in the low end--not even low B, just E, F, G--when cranked. I have one of these and was looking for more power, but given that I can crank this almost all the way up with no farting or distortion, I believe I'll stick with it. Very simple to use, quite loud, GREAT tone and rock-solid reliable. I play a Fender Corona U.S.A. Jazz, Mike Dirnt P-Bass (better sounding than my '63 P!), and a koa '79 Mighty Mite with active P/J EMGs--the real ones, and they all sound fantastic through this amp. Yes, the tweeter hisses a bit, but in a real-world gig situation this is not a problem. The only downside I've found is its 67lb heft. But hey, no one ever complains about its hefty sound. Highly recommended as the best non-farting bass amp for the money.

I originally just played on a little Fender Rumble 15 just to practice but then some friends and I started a band and we had a practice and you couldn't hear anything I played so I went and bought this and now I can drown out anything that the drummer or guitarist is playing the effects are awesome too the gain is a really cool item for a bass amp the style selector is unique too GREAT AMP!! excellent!

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

I just got this amp today after a week of looking around. This Ampeg is great. It is solid and clean, and loud enough to compete with my band. It is heavy, but two people can carry it easily. There's lots of tone options and five different styles, which are fun to play around with. This amp won't disappoint you!

With the balanced out and a good PA you can play everywhere with the BA115!great amp 4 reasonable price!Rock'n Roll

this thing is awesome

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

I've been playing bass for about a year now and I thought it was time for an upgrade.I made an awesome upgrade from a 15 watt fender amp to a 100watt Ampeg! this was like a dream come true for me. I play through it with a fender P bass. I actually us two of these when we do gigs because my friend has one. Get this amp it is amazing. the only single thing I don't like is the tweeter. it creates a lot of unnecessary feedback. it is a very versatile amp you slap, pick, or anything

The best amp for its price.

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

I got my Ampeg about 2 months ago and it sounds great. It has crisp sound even at high volume levels. There is an awesome style switch that u can adjust to stress high notes or low notes and also have a unique sound to each of the five styles. The amp makes my old bass sound brand new. It doesn't look like the best amp, but don't let it fool u. This blows the Fender Rumble and the Crates out of the water.
