I expected more from this amp. The reason i rated it a 4 star was because: 1) It didn't have the tilt-back feature like most of the other BA series amps do and for 220 watts, it wasn't very loud (minus 1 star). I had a Fender Keyboard amp that I used for my bass and it was even louder than this amp! 2) It didn't have an output so that you could connect a cabinet to it (minus 1 star). For 220 watts, wouldn't you expect that there would be an output for that? This is a fairly decent amp nonetheless.. The effects are cool and the side handles and heavy duty wheels are convienient. I just wish I had saved everything that had came with it (the box, packaging, etc.) because I would've definantly returned it because this amp, although is nice, doesn't satisfy me. I guess it is a good amp for practicing with but I wouldn't recommend it for club gigs.

this thing ROCKS!

Comments about Ampeg BA-210SP Bass Combo Amp with Effects:

I just purchased one of these bad boys from guitar center the other day and I think its amazing. For the people who couldn't figure out how to use some of the effects, you have to set the adjust really low (around 2-3) for it to work and not get that face melting explosion sound. Overall, this thing is amazing. Probably the best amp I've ever played through. By turning the knob you can go from a Victor Wooten kind of tone to the Jaco sound. Really an amazing amp.

Definitely Worth Checking Out

Comments about Ampeg BA-210SP Bass Combo Amp with Effects:

After owning this amp, I can confidently say Ampeg definitely knows how to make bass amps. The low end on this amp is so strong it blows me away. It's hard to believe that all that is coming from two 10's. The amp doesn't even have to be loud. Put everything at 3 or 4. Things will shake. Anyway, the effects are pretty cool. A little bit of which ever one you like can add a nice touch up to your sound (For those of you who like the amps to color your sound). It's easy to transport, and it's got nice little handles (which probably should be a little higher on the side because most of the weight is at the top and it DOES tend to tilt) and wheels. It's definitely loud enough to hold its own against the drums and guitars (the guitarists in my band play pretty loud and I only have to notch it around volume 7 and level 8), but you might wanna consider getting a half stack or the BA500 with an additional cab if you don't want to plug into the house every now and then.

Awesome!

Comments about Ampeg BA-210SP Bass Combo Amp with Effects:

The amp is awesome! The guy who gave it a 3 star must be nuts. This amp really cranks! The effects are really cool. The side handles and wheels are convenient. Don't be bummed that it doesn't have an external speaker output, you don't need another cab for it. Wherever you go, you're most likely going to put it through a PA, because your regular stage amplification isn't enough, so the PA takes care of that. I was disappointed that it didn't have the tilt-back feature, but there are ways to lean it back. Overall, this is a must-have for any bass player!

great!!

Comments about Ampeg BA-210SP Bass Combo Amp with Effects:

I got one of these a few weeks ago and it is awesome! CDs sound really good through it and rather convenient for playing along with other songs. The effects are really cool but some don't really do anything. I don't know if it's mine or not or if I'm just an idiot. Great amp nevertheless. I use it for church, youth group, and shows and it sounds great. The foot pedal that comes with it makes it very convenient to switch effects while playing. Also they do a good job of making it easy to transport by it having wheels and handles on the sides and top. It can get heavy at 70 odd pounds. I would recommend it to anyone. It sounds awesome and is very loud with the great Ampeg tone!

Wow

Comments about Ampeg BA-210SP Bass Combo Amp with Effects:

I have only one word for this amp, best. If you tried this one, you wouldn't even bother looking at anything else, 220 watts goes more then my 400 watt SWR head, and that has 410 and 115 cabs! This amp without even having a 115 cab has so much low end you couldn't believe. The punch will literally knock you off your seat, and those effects are so cool.

Satisfaction! ....mostly

By Mike DeVarennes

from Tempe, Arizona

Comments about Ampeg BA-210SP Bass Combo Amp with Effects:

I got this Amp along with an Ibanez SR810 and the sound is brilliant. I can achieve nearly every tone I want and the effects are just so much fun. My only complaint is that synth bass effects #13, 14, and 15 make my amp sound like its got 2 10" blown speakers. I think its a problem with this amp because I've tried three other bass's with it and each time the effect causes a real ugly eye squinting, face tightening sound of blown speakers, but the other 11 effects are great and more than make up for it.

Great amp for jamming or medium gigs!

By JHP

Comments about Ampeg BA-210SP Bass Combo Amp with Effects:

This is a great all-around amp. It's got the size and portability of a combo, but basically the sound of a 4x10. Plus, you can do anything with the 15 effects. Just wish it had distortion, but everything else is great.
