Despite its size, the Tone Hammer 500 head can crank out 500W of Class D power at 4 ohms (250W @ 8 ohms). The EQ section boasts Bass, Mid Level, Mid Frequency, and Treble controls for precise shaping of your sound. Additionally, the Drive control features Aguilar's proprietary Adaptive Gain Shaping circuit, letting you add subtle distortion and EQ for that extra punch that a track or performance calls for.

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Bass Amp Head:
Prior to buying this amp I was lugging around an Aguilar DB750 which sounds great but very heavy. I needed to find an amp that was light weight without sacrificing quality of sound. Weighing in at only 4lbs, I had to give this little amp a shot.
I've played this amp separately through an Aguilar DB410 (8 ohm), an Aguilar DB115 (8 ohm), and a Hartke 8x10 (4 ohm). In all 3 cases this amp delivered clean sound, heavy bass, cutting mids and pristine highs, I was able to dial in a variety of sounds including an Overdrive/distortion sound using the Drive knob.
If you are a fan of the DB750 / DB751, this little guy is a great alternative. i would never get rid of my DB 750 but I can safely say the Tone Hammer 500 will be my go to amp for gigging.
If you are bassist constantly on the go and need to lighten your load, I highly recommend this amp. Aguilar is a good company that makes great gear! Worth every penny.
Side note: I had to buy the soft case bag through Aguilar. While I wish it would have come with the amp, Im glad I picked it up. Case keeps amp safe and has room for all your speaker cables and power cord. nice handles and can me worn like a messanger bag.
