Great amp from a fine company

By Mark in The Gardens

Comments about Acoustic B20 1X12 Bass Combo Amplifier:

I can't remeber when I have given anything a 10 rating but this amp, when used in the right setting, deserves it.

I purchased this amp a few months ago to have a lighter bass amp for practice at another player's home. My Hartke had gotten pretty heavy for repeated transport and too big for anything other than gigs.

I was looking for something in the 10-15 watt range and had checked out VOX, Line6, Peavey, Fender and some others. When I found this Acoustic, I knew I had found the right one. It weighs a little but more than the ones I had tested but the 4 band EQ is very musical and the extra few watts with a 12" driver are BIG plusses.

This amp in not for high powered applications. Let's face it, you need a lot of oompf to really hold your own with a full band. With that said, I recently used this amp as an onstage monitor for a small concert where it was miked with a Sennheiser MD421 through the FOH system and it was perfect - awesome tone. Both my Jazz Bass and my McCartney copy bass sounded beautiful.

I've been in the business for better than 45 years and know the Acoustic name from the old days. I know they were out of the picture for a while but it appears they have worked hard to restore their good name. This is a great product.

Fantastic Value. Solid Amp. Great Sound!

Comments about Acoustic B20 1X12 Bass Combo Amplifier:

Don't think you could get a better new bass amp at this price. Perfect for practice and lower-level jams. Sounds much louder than you'd expect at 20w. The 12" gives it a very nice feel as well. Five-position EQ lets you dial-in any sound you want. Jacks for headphones and an input for an MP3 player, etc. to play along with are great additions. No, it doesn't have any way to add an extension cabinet or a XLR, etc. But, it is what it is. It does a great job at its primary purpose - a solid, small amp at a great price. I also use a Tech 21 VT Bass pedal with it and it seriously adds a lot more mojo to the tone. Gives it a nice, very adjustable, tube-like Ampeg tone on demand. I couldn't believe you could get a tone and drive like this out of a smallish amp. Highly recommended. BTW, looks very cool as well........

WOW

Comments about Acoustic B20 1X12 Bass Combo Amplifier:

I borrowed this amp from a friend for school jazz band rehearsals and its LOUD for 20 watts. It also has a great sound, not to mention how cheap it is. 1/8 inch headphone output is a plus too. Any beginner to intermediate player should get one.

Great Practice Amp!

Comments about Acoustic B20 1X12 Bass Combo Amplifier:

This is an amazing little amp! Feature for feature this amp is superior to every other amp in the price range. Now instead of lugging my stage setup to practice, consisting of a GK head / tuner / etc... in a rack, plus speakers, I bring this tiny amp, bass, and stand all in one trip from the car. The sound is excellent with effective EQ and keeps up with two guitars through the PA, drums, and vocals. The build quality is superior. However, it is missing a few features that would make it perfect. It needs a DI output to the board. I solved this problem with a Behringer DI100 which works great. A built in tuner would be very helpful (I smell a mod coming). An input with impedance matched to a laptop headphone output would help. And a couple hooks in the recessed back for the cord would be much appreciated. This is a great amp with a reasonable price tag. There isnt any reason to lug anything more to practice.

Very Versatile Excellent Amp

By Millardo

from Franklin NC

Comments about Acoustic B20 1X12 Bass Combo Amplifier:

I bought this little amp a few months ago and it is just great! I've replaced both my big cumbersome 120 watt 15" bass combo amp as well as a combo guitar amp in my living room with this nifty little unit. -And it sure is a lot easier to transport to local jams. It sounds great as a bass amp with really wonderful rich tone, and it is also a terrific jazz and acoustic guitar amp that can be miked if necessary. -Sort of reminds me of a smaller verson of those old made-in-Hollywood Polytone bass and jazz guitar amps. This is a well-made high quality item. As others have mentioned, it could use a line out feature, but maybe they'll include that in their next production run. It's not the amp for a hot lead guitar player, but it's very nice for a mellow rhythm guitar sound and a terrific bass amp. I've been playing more years than I care to (or can) remember, and I really like this amp.

A great sounding 20w amp. Tone is great, equalizer is very nice, allows alot of fine tuning on your sound. A little distortion when volume hits 8+. Great amp for practice or jamming.
