An excellent Hawaiian ukulele featuring beautiful sounding and eye-pleasing koa tonewood.
Lanikai offers the NK Natural Koa Ukulele as a striking edition to the Lanikai Custom series. This Lanikai ukulele is constructed from gorgeous woods with exotic figuring and highly contrasting tones due to special construction techniques and a meticulous process used for selection.
The NK (Natural Koa) ukuleles display Lanikai's commitment to tradition by crafting these instruments with solid koa tops and koa back and sides. This NK-T ukulele is a tenor size and features a mahogany neck, die-cast tuners, abalone binding, koa headstock overlay, and come equipped with Aquila strings. "The long-established use of koa on ukuleles is no accident, the tones produced by this wood is synonymous with the ukulele itself," says Drew Lewis, product manager, adding "Nothing sounds or looks like koa."
This ukulele is strung with Aquila Nylgut Strings.

Comments about Lanikai NK-T Natural Koa Tenor Ukulele:
I've played the NK-T Lanikai ukulele (made in Indonesia) for two months now and am well pleased by the instrument. The ukulele is flawless in appearance in every aspect, the fit of all joints, the beautiful finish, bindings, smoothly dressed frets, with minimal tweaking of the string height to fit my individual liking. The intonation is very good and the ukulele projects in a robust but sweet way. There are pleasing "woody" tones to this ukulele no doubt owing to the solid koa top and a lovely ringing quality to the sound. Sides and back are laminate koa - a necessary trade off at the price point of the instrument. However, an advantage to the laminate back and sides is that the instrument is less susceptible to cracking in those areas. I've played classical guitar for over forty years and my experience with that instrument helped my understanding of this fine ukulele. Go play one and see if you like it, because each ukulele will be sound different. If you buy one use good strings such as D'Addario J71 or Aquila. They make a world of difference.
