Dean Markley

Through use of a lead differential weight the Dean Markley peizo reacts through compression rather than just bending, like all other Peizo pickups. This unique patented design gives Dean Markley's Artist Transducer its high quality sound at a price which is affordable. Artist Transducer's special mounting adhesive allows the Artist to be mounted and removed many, many times without hurting the finish. The Artist has been on the market for over 17 years and they've never had a complaint about it or the adhesive.
The Artist pickup has many other uses besides amplifying acoustic guitars. It's a great pickup for Violin, Cello, Stand-up-Bass, Banjo, Mandolin, Piano, Horn, or practically anything else you would ever want to amplify. They've even had a mechanic use one to pickup (pardon the pun) knocks and vibrations in engines. The bottom line is: if it vibrates, the Artist Pickup will catch the vibrations. You do whatever you want with them after that.

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

I have used this pickup for about two weeks and it does the job quite well on my Baby Taylor. I played around with the positioning of the pickup and settled on the body right behind the bridge nearest the high "E" string connection. I only use a vox mini and could use a bit more volume but it is working well. I plugged into a larger amp and the tone and volume was very good.

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

toss the adhesive, go to an arts supply store, & pickup some putty. a $5 sheet will last generations. experiment with the correct placement. mine goes on the far corner of the bridge. the unit is sensitive, but solid. buy one--for the price, you can't lose.

    Works great

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

Use it to record my acoustic to my looper. Read bad things about the "putty" they send you to attach it to the guitar. I used two sided tape instead and it works fantastic. Sound is fine. Move transducer around to find the sweet spot on your instrument. It's worth what you paid

    Best deal going.

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

I got this for my banjo and mandolin. It works perfect. I run my 1933 Gibson mandolin thru my Delta labs effects pedal and It sounds like it is on acid. Fun.

    Dean Markley Artist pickup

    By

    from Arkansas

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

The Artist transducer is a little gem; with a bit of experimentation, it has already proved a useful pickup for such widely varied instruments as an L-12 Gibson, an early Martin uke and a mid-19th century Austrian guitar. It produces signal enough to let me throttle back my (smallish) amp and the reproduction of the individual instruments' voices is faithful and fine. Much better than my old "Buffalo" transducer, and a real bargain.

I love it! It sounds very natural.

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

I already owned one Dean Markley Artist Transducer, and bought a 2nd one for my music partner. I am half of the duo, Flatpickin, and we frequently need to amplify when we play weddings and such. Since I have a number of stringed instruments, it was more practical to use a more portable acoustic pickup than to install one on each instrument. The Dean Markley Artist is perfect! I use it with 25 watt Ibanez acoustic amp for most gigs that require amplification. Recently I bought a Dean Markely GT1000 Micro Amp to use with my transducer at the Maryland Renaissance Festival where we are street musicians. We hide the amp, and the cord as best we can. It sounds beautiful, very natural! Overdrive is necessary on the microamp with the transducer, though. No big deal.

Good pickup but may damage the instrument finish.

    By

    from East Coast

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

I have used a ProMag for many years and have been pleased with it so I thought Id try another Dean Markley product. The Artist Transducer pickup performs very well, much better than I had hoped for. It was purchased mainly for one of my acoustic guitars as well as for a mandolin. Although it does perform well, it did cause a problem on the finish of my guitar. The advertising material states, Artist Transducer's special mounting adhesive allows the Artist to be mounted and removed many, many times without hurting the finish. However, I found there are instances where the adhesive could damage an instrument. I doubt the adhesive would hurt an instrument with a high-gloss finish but satin finishes may be a different story.

    Love it!

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

Great! This superb pickup gave my $50 acoustic guitar a sound I had found only on much more expensive electro-acoustic guitars. At first I had some feedback problem but a careful positioning and sticking of the pickup removed all acoustic feedback. Now that cheapo guitar is my preferred one for daily playing. I would like to stick the transducer permanently to it.

    Great pickup!

Comments about Dean Markley Artist Transducer:

I play a classical guitar. It is a great sounding pickup. It is easy to put on and it doesn't ruin the guitar sticking it on at all.
